Ok I know it's very early to be asking this but I was curious to what you guys/girls think... What game do you think will take the prize home for this year? Personally I'm thinking either Portal 2 or if it's released in time Minecraft. Mass Effect 3 and Uncharted 3 could potentially change my mind though.

Also making the poll I realized how many sequels are in the list... Is this good or bad for the industry?

EDIT: Sorry I forgot about Skyrim :S

LA Noire. Well I am hoping that it turns out to be another GTA IV not another RDR (such a fucking dissapointment). In reality I would guess it will fall somewhere in the middle.

My general assumption about sequels is good for the shareholders, bad for the consumers.

I'm tempted to say Minecraft ONLY because of the lack of a number on the end of it's title =p.

I'd say probably Mass Effect 3, Skyrim or LA Noire...
Though my Personal GOTY is Dead Space 2 so far >.>

In what backwards world was RDR a disappointment?

Well, it's gotta be Portal 2, Mass Effect 3 or The Witcher 2. I don't really care about Skyrim as I couldn't get into Oblivion but hopefully it'll be better.

LA Noire, Skyrim or Battlefield 3.

Come on, Dragon Age 2? Lowest rated Bioware game in a long time (if not ever) by far, and a rushed out cash in if there ever was one. Do yourself the favour of not propagating the business practice that Bioware undertook with the game.
Sorry I've never played either DA. Wishing I'd put Skyrim in now, it completely slipped my mind.

Portal 2 or Skyrim. Skyrim looks beautiful and it sounds like they've fixed my complaints with Oblivion, but I'll wait until I play it for final judgment.

Yeah I'm interested in this as well. RDR was my personal GOTY last year and a lot of publications agreed... by far the best western video game ever produced.

OT: Skyrim will probably take it, but really who could know this early in the year? Let's not discount Batman: Arkham City either.

i wouldnt hold that all sequels are bad man, Like Yahtzee's (overused mind you but well justified) example of Silent Hill 2 being a good sequel and then some others, Half Life 2, Portal 2 (ignore the self entitled shits about first day DLC its just cosmetic), Dead Rising 2, Just Cause 2. Most Grand Theft Auto Games. then again these are probably exceptions to the sequels are though. Oh and Team Fortress 2.

Well, so far it's Portal 2 by a wide margin. I liked Dragon Age 2, but it has nothing on Portal.

Most anticipated games this year: Catherine and Child of Eden. Will they exceed P2? That's nearly impossible to say at this stage.

Thanks for not including those, by the way.

[sub]Deus Ex: HEY! ROBOTS! and Dark Souls look awesome too. Look, there are a lot of games that may or may not be amazing this year. Until we get our hands on some more gameplay footage, this question is way too early.[/sub]

I wasn't suggesting all sequels are bad for the sonsumer (perhaps I wasn't very clear). My two favourite games (GTA IV and Vice City respectively) are oth sequels. Valve sequels in general tend to be examples of how to further gaming or at least create great games, but I would like to see more original IP's and if that meant less sequels then I would be happy with that (with the exception of Rockstar, I wan't another GTA NOW).
