Poll: 3D Animation

These days it seems like all popular animation is CGI. How do you feel about it, do you miss classic cell animation as I do?

I have great affection for traditional cell animation, but when it's done right, I can enjoy CGI as much, if not occasionally more. Pixar's really done well in this area; looking at Toy Story, The Incredible or Up, I don't think I can say they'd be better in 2D. Indeed, I think part of their charm is their unique animation style.

On the other hand, there's just something about traditional animation that makes me prefer it. I guess it just seems more alive, somehow.

As long as it's done well, it doesn't matter if it's 2D or 3D. I like them both. And I really like Pixar and the work they do. Wouldn't call it completely revolutionizing, but definitely very well done and a step in that direction.

I love original 2D animation - it just takes me back to being small, with a mountain of Disney films next to my tv.

However, 3Ds good as well, when it's done right, such as Toy Story, or Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, although since pretty much every new childrens film is in 3D, it makes me think its a shame no-one animates feature films for cinemas in 2D anymore.
