so Batman and Green Lantern ( doesn't matter which one pick your favorite) are hanging out fighting some baddies when BAM! for some reason Lantern goes down for the 10 count. His last words give Batman the Powerring.

What happens next? Does Batman put on the ring and there is suddenly no crime... anywhere?
Does Batman hold onto and return it to Oa somehow?
Goes back to the Watchtower and gives it to The Flash since Lantern and Flash where good buds?

I've just wondered about this and thought that I would find out what you think.

i cant really imagine ol' batty giving it to flash, granted i have never read any of the crossover comics but from what i understand batman kinda hates flash, and i cant really imagine him using it either (and as far as i understand the ring has to choose its wearer and if you just put it on you, i don't know, explode or something), but batman is kinda of a collector so i think he would just put it on a display and that will be it.

i think that's why nerds love batman so, he's is such a nerd, i once read a pretty funny article "proving" that bruce had asperger (i think it was on wrongplanet.net, cant find it).

Edit: What is your take on it OP, i actually think this is a really interesting topic, but you need to do some baiting.

edit 2: yeah "When a Green Lantern is slain, their ring will automatically seek out a suitable replacement." so i would imagine the ring would fly away, maybe trough a few of the bad guys on its way, now this is where it gets interesting for me, would batman try and save the bad guys after that, i believe that even after having witnessed them murder a ally he would still try and save them, even when the joker and others have killed people close to him he never killed them (heck thats why we have the awesome redhood).

bwuh? his "superpower" is basically awesomeness, he has trained himself both physically and mental to the limit of what is human possible, its not like he drives around bribing criminals to behave, though that would be kinda funny, maybe DC can do a spin-off series called fatcat.

He spends millions of dollars on the best tech he can get so he could fight crime and a magic ring is the best piece of equipment he could ever hope of getting his hands on so I don't think he would give it up just like that. It would become so much easier to catch criminals without killing them if he can just imagine it. Hypothetical question aside, I don't think writers would ever do this though.

He'd probably return it to Oa, or find a new Lantern. But he wouldn't wear it. He wouldn't want to lose his edge by using or relying on such a thing. Well, maybe as a last resort...

As for beating it, I was pretty sure Batman had already figured out how to beat every member of the Justice League. Blind Green Lantern, throw kryptonite powder at Superman, and other such things.

Ah, when I last read his wiki, it said financial wealth, you'd have to view the page's history. It was when Dark Knight came out.

I have no idea.

...But then, he's a hero, and I don't know how they think.

I suppose he'd do the opposite of what I'd do, so destroy it I suppose. Which option is the closest to that?

I think he would return it to OA so they could find a new green lantern. However, what if batman IS the new green lantern? *dunh dunh DUNH!*

I was never big on comics :p

that's odd, while he does rely far more on his wealth in the nolan movies (especially in the Dark Knight "we need to get somewhere? lets buy a yacht, a plain, a new suit, bombs and offer to buy a company!") there was still the whole rahs al'ghul (yeah i'm sure its misspelled) training montage, at that point all he has is the clothes he is wearing and the willpower to be and do what he needs to.

well I'm thinking that Batman might give i to the Flash because Flash and Lantern where teammates. ( they usually hung out together and they balanced each other out. much like Superman and Batman. I.E. The man with all the powers and the man with none of them)

Honestly I think that he would wear it himself. From what little i know of the lanterens I think if Green Lantern gave it to Batman then Batman would be able to wear it with no impunity. other than the weakness to yellow which comes with the ring.

Although he would be just as likely to Enshrine it in the Watchtower as a Tribute to a fallen comrade and friend. And it would sit there until someone from Oa or another Lantern came to take it back to Oa.

I think Batman can get on fine without it.
"weakness to yellow! what about my utility belt?...I'm batman"
"well, you could just dye it black, you have done that before"
"yeah and we all remember how that ended up...I'm batman"
"oh, you mean the nipple-"
batman then beats the random guy to a bloody pulp.

He probably put it on just to finish off the bad guy and then take it off. For those who don't know about the Green Lantern (I'm not a expect but I do know some info on them) is that they are like space policeman meaning a Green Lantern Batman must sometime leave Gothan city to check for any activity on his solar system. Batman would never leave Gothan City.
Oh I had to post this-
Beside I also read a summary in one of these "What if" comic story if Batman did get a Green Lantern ring.
It was pretty much during the time when he started out crime fighting but got his ass kick and need some kind of superpower to fight crime. A space ship crash landed near Gothan City which it was Abin Sur (a dying Green Lantern who passes his ring to Hal Jordan) and he passes his ring to Batman instead of Hal Jordan. Batman wears the ring and took one mission in outer space which involves Sinestro (A Green Lantern villain) who he kicks his ass. He returns to Gothan City and abuse his ring power to fight crime (he was suppose to go to Oa for further training. I can remember the rest of the story but it involve something about removing Batman ring by force.

The ring's power grants the wearer ANYTHING HE CAN IMAGINE. Things that not even vast wealth can create or make happen.
The ring works off from Will power and Intelligence. Two things which batman Obviously doesn't have.
