"per-game subscription services"

So it begins.....

BTW: Making over one billion dollars in under six weeks and they are still doing this?!
Damm you Bobby Kotick.

No. They are not charging to play the game. Your thread title is misleading and dead wrong. They are charging for bonus features like map packs and such. The game is still free to play online.

If I dont HAVE to get it to play online, I might still get MW3. If I enjoy the game enough without the subscription, it still says its stupid.

Read the articles and posts before you post. They're not charging to play the game. They are charging for stats and map packs. The game will still be free to play (apart from the xbox live costs)

Way to not read your own article their buddy. Or was your title supposed to be a complete lie?
They aren't charging anyone anything to play any game, end of story. You pay your 60 dollars and you can go play all you want. If you want, you can hand over some more coin for a bunch of extra features.

Optional fee? Whats the problem here? I just don't get why people are angry. People already pay $15 per each map pack and now with this you get map packs and already a bunch of other stuff at a price. To play the game online is still free like always.

Because at this point, getting all the content for a game is becoming really costly.

Having an "optional" monthly fee alongside DLC packs is becoming steep.

It comes along with the map packs if you bothered to read the article. The costs aren't separate.

"Activision Blizzard has announced that it will feature in-depth statistics regarding your gameplay, alternative matchmaking, and map pack distribution"

Has anyone considered that maybe they will drop the price of DLC in lieu of the monthly fee? I know, I know, "Activision is evil and craves money", but that actually seems like a reasonable move on their part.

I was talking in principle. Yes, Activision is willing to do so. But does that means that EA won't try to put DLC in there too? Or THQ? I am more concerned with the future use of it rather what Acti is doing at the moment.

I'm going to pay the fee, enjoy multiplayer, and also plan on getting Battlefield 3 as well... and enjoying it.

Actually, they haven't announced all the specifics of the service. For all you know, they could have 'pay to win' yet to be announced.

It's fine, just save your anger for when he decides to actually make you pay to play.
