I don't know about most other people, who seem to think that the original big Xbox controller was some sort of huge monster that was a crippling flaw of the system, but I really liked it. I liked how it felt powerful. When I got into my tank in Halo:Combat Evolved a decade ago, I felt like I was driving a tank. These days the X-box controller seems to have lost some of that original flair... but then again, I am one of those people who thought that the Xbox360 was a god awful name, and that in retooling the whole aesthetic, they lost allot of that futuristic console flair.

Short answer: Yes.
Longer answer: I was 10 or 12 when the Xbox came out, so my teeny hands didn't fit comfortably. I haven't held one in years so I can't say if it's better now, I just remember that the Gamecube controller was more comfortable.

No my friend liked it personally I hated the thing and bought the smaller S one asap I also hated the Dreamcast controller and the N64 controller all much much to big and clunky for my liking sure I could play with them but god knows what research they did to decide that was the best controller for their system.

Modern 360 controller is far superior (probably because it was based on the S model as far as I know) the D pad needs work though if it had the PS3 D pad and the PS3 had the 360s analogue sticks I would be happy.

Obligatory:
[HEADING=3]You are never the only one!!![/HEADING]

But anyway... I have never minded any controller to be honest... all controller take a little while to get used to, but then I have always got on with them!

~Not particulary memorable, but not bad either!

I too am versatile with controllers.

Baby, I got magic fingers! :D

I do have fond memories of the original xbox controller, though.

I thought it was a bit unwieldy, with a ridiculously large logo taking up so much space in the middle, but I never truly realised how bad it was until the controller S came out, which was just all round better in every single way.

Definitely not- I always found it very comfortable, and I had just enough IQ to realise I didn't have to use all three prongs at once- something some people still just can't get their heads around. Idiots. The Gamecube was in most ways better, though I prefer the 64's trigger and C-button layout. The Gamecube's C stick always escaped out from under my thumb at the worst possible moments.

Now for my question:

Am I the only one who never particularly liked the one Playstation controller design that's never really ever changed? Those handles were always too short and led to cramping, in my experience.

While it's not like I couldn't use the original Xbox controller, I did find them to be too big to be comfortable - especially for longer periods of gameplay.
The S controllers, for me at least, were a huge improvement.

But Sean Connery told be that there can be ONLY one.....

But no, seriously, I didn't mind it, I didn't especially like it, however it was rather clunky.

The first console I owned was a PS1. It's controller is the reason I never got a PS2.
I got an xbox and stuck with that, because of the controller.

I loved the original Xbox controller. It made me feel... empowered.
Really, though, I don't know why, but I loved that controller, even though at the time I was still pretty young and my hands were small...

I loved the Xbox controller, that beast fit my hands perfectly. Really obvious why it got the hate that it did though

I liked it. But I have big hands. My friend would always make me use it as his girly hands couldn't press all the buttons at once.

I'll just put this here...

But seriously, I can't even remember what the original Xbox controller was like, but I'm sure I like the design of the 360 one better. Industrial designs almost invariably improve with time.

I liked it BECAUSE it was a hulking monstrosity. Much like the N64 controller. Play station controllers always feel too small to me. Not that I have giant hands. I just like the larger controllers.

I liked it. It was a challenge to hold. After a while, I couldn't use the PS2 one as well, because it was just too easy.
