I recently got Prototype (yeah yeah behind the times and all that) aside from the game being awesome, civilian shot-put, and the camera being manned by a schizophrenic with ADHD.

...

Where was I going?

Right, while I was getting a tire fixed at Pepboys I was struck with an interesting question. Would you give up all the memories you ever had for super powers, not Mercer's powers specifically, just any super powers. With no hope of ever regaining those memories, ever.

EDIT: Mildly increased amount of specification, if you try to remember anything before the super powers it's just a blank (minus the ability to use words and walk) so you know you had something there you just have no way of knowing what it was.

That depends. Are we talking revert to an infant loss of memory, or a loss of self knowledge? The former no, latter yes. Personally, I'd be the invisible man.

On one hand I would forget everyone I ever loved, and all the happy memories I shared with them.

On the other, SUPER POWERS!

I...I dunno!

Instant yes for me. If I forgot the past, there's nothing to dwell on anymore. and well, I won't remember that I've forgotten it will I?

Human torch! woohoo

While I haven't amounted to much, the people in my life are very dear to me.

So, no. I wouldn't. If it happened by accident and I did forget, well, I wouldn't remember the loss so... no loss.

Depends. If I still knew how to do everything I did now, and acted the same, asides from the superpowers, felt the same way about everything and everyone I do now...
No, I wouldn't. My memories have shaped the person I am now, and even if I don't like me, I have a duty to be there for my friends. Even if I could set things on fire with my mind.

Uhm.. Absolutely.

Aside from the fact most my memories are bad... if you give up your memories... you cant miss what you dont have.

Right so to everyone who said yes you wouldn't freak the fuck out if you woke up with the last 13-40 years (making a general range there) of your life missing?

Also where in the nine hells is my poll?

No, my memories are far too valuable to me to give up.

Besides, I don't want superpowers; I want to be a catgirl. Cat ears, cat tail, and the agility and nature of a cat.

That doesn't count as a superpower, because I'm hoping this will be possible in the future.

I think not. Perhaps if I had been asked the question a few years earlier, but now I have too many good memories.

Yeah, as long as I lose my memory within my home so my parents can convince me who I am, but not in an "I remember myself" way. It would be the control of time, so I could go back, and see what I did, I wouldn't remember it, I would just witness it. That may be cheating, but whatever.

if i maintain basic speech, and my attitude remain fairly the same, then yes i would, but if its total memory loss and powers then Hell No
