i bought a wii around when it first came out and now i don't really have a ps3 or xbox because im pretty poor and tha can use the ones my friends have on a daily basis but, it seems like when i watch a trailer for a wii game someones bitching about how "the wii's Gr4pHics are teh failz" in the comments and it makes me think that gamers might be becoming spoiled on HD graphics. I mean back in the days of cartridges i was happy that i could readily identify the combination of bricks i controlled. it might be saying stuff online just to waste time in my pitifully dull existence but i kinda do want to hear what people have to say about this

Welcome to the Escapist. Here, we take grammar seriously. I know, right? /grammarnaziness
OT: Yeah, I see where you're coming from. I recently moved up from a Wii to a 360, and I was amazed at the graphics. Back when all I had was a Wii, the graphics seemed nice, but now going back to it, they just seem all... pixellated (ugh).
And outside of my snarky comment at the beginning of the post: Welcome to the Escapist!
EDIT: I just realized you've been here just as long as I have. I was just looking at your post count. My bad.

I think the younger generation isn't "spoiled", rather they expect HD graphics. It's almost a guarentee that the next generation of consoles will all have HD graphics and I don't see a problem with the people this generation wanting decent graphics. However, if someone did say "the wii's Gr4pHics are teh failz", then of course they deserved to get punched in the face.

No, I think it has games more playable. I like how shiny everything looks on my 360. I also liked the Wii graphics until I got rid off it.

Yes. People are starting to pay more attention on graphics than on the most important part of the game; gameplay. HD isn't a nessecisity for a game. It's the immersion and fun of the game.

The trick to dealing with stupid comments on the internet, about graphics or otherwise, is to ignore them.
You cannot deny that the graphics of the 360 or the PS3 are better then that of the Wii (At least as far as raw power and resolution is concerned), but if it doesn't bother you, then let others wallow in their ignorance. Who cares what other people are saying about a Wii game's graphics? You aren't concerned about them playing the game, right? You're concerned about how the game looks and plays to you. So let 'em complain.

No, most gamers play old and new games anyway.

People don't really get that hung up over graphics.

I get annoyed when one of my friends will say "I don't wanna play that game, the graphics suck". It's nice when there's good graphics, but if the game is fun and you can see what you're doing, then that's all that matters to me. I 100% agree with Baby Tea.

I think the Wii's graphics are fail, purely because they could do so much more with the hardware, and they're not.
Graphics for me aren't a big deal.
I still play GBA, old sega games, nes games, and even the occasional MS-DOS one.
Playstation one's graphics were attrocious, but I still play on it.
I'm not a massive fan of HD graphics as I'd need a new tv to get them, and I like analogue systems alot and hate how all digital systems look sharp and jagged. Sure they look pretty, but the flaws on a large analogue tv to me, don't stand out as much. Analogue will always be more accurate in portraying anything than a digital system.
I believe gamers are becoming spoiled on High Definition graphics, but I'm not one of them.
I support analogue.

Thats a little ridiculous, that's like saying "I think gamers are spoiled on 3D."

That's just the way graphics are moving, we aren't all still playing in 8-bit are we? No, things upgrade and its not our fault you stuck by the console that decided not to come with. If graphics didn't move, games would still look like an Atari 2600.

This. Although, this rule would not apply to the 10 year olds on LIVE that say Halo is the "purrtiest gaem evar!" seeing as they are, you know, kids.

I must admit though, sometimes HD/Decent graphics make a difference when it comes to animations or environments, because replaying PoPWW, some of those darker corridors make me feel blind as fuck.

Yes. There are many gamers I know that care solely about the graphics and a few I know won't even think of touching a game unless it has superb graphics.

i do think that we are spoiled on shiny new and HD graphics. i personally dont care about how well the game looks, but how well it plays and how much fun it is and many games lost that mindset and went on to basically think that: "if we make the graphics good enough, they dont have to worry about if the gameplay isnt fun"

Probably. Although I fell that as long as the graphics are as good as the generation I started with (Gamecube) or better then they are pretty pretty, shiny.

There are maybe a total of 70 true HD games on both the PS3(about 35) and 360(32 total, with only 6 confirmed) I might have missed some, but information on this is very hard to find. For the 360, most games either reach 720p or fail and run at anywhere from 550p to 650p.

On PC, well, it depends on the gamer. Most people will be happy with what they're playing on, others will say a game looks/plays horrible when they don't get 120FPS at a 4000x2000 resolution with 16xAA, HDR, dynamic shadows and graphics on ultra high.

Certainly hasn't spoiled me, but yeah, I cut my teeth on horrendously ugly DOS games so things can only get better from there.

Graphics are good..without them we'd be eaten by a grue.. +10 internets to anyone who gets that reference..

We've come a long way from integrated video chipsets and games like Pong.

1 thing I did notice and I gotta love Bungie and Microsoft Game Studios for doing this..but Hit Detection in ODST is just fucking SPOT ON..even when things were getting REALLY laggy..headshots were still being made.

I do like playing games in 1080p HD on my dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP,but I still could plug in my original xbox and love the hit detection in games like Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 and Summit Strike..
