I was going to get one and use it with a few friends. Now, I don't usually buy into this sort of stuff but after hearing a few creepy stories (i scare easily) I'm not so sure. So, have you had any experiences? Most importantly: Are they dangerous?

The only danger you are in is accidentally beating yourself across the head with the glass.

No. The users lead it to spell things out. There's nothing mystical about them.

Ouija boards are toys. The only thing to fear is whatever your conjure up in your own head. With a Ouija board you are basically making your own fear. Even though I wasn't allowed to have one because my Abuelita and Mother were incredibly superstitious. My friend did have one however, and we found it incredibly boring.

Dangerous in what way?
You won't exactly see real ghosts when you use a "YesYes" board, you know.

I dont see how a board game would be "dangerous." If you think using one will cause a demon to haunt you or something, you have bigger problems to work out. Ouiji boards are just a fun little gimmick. It possesses no mystical powers.

Do people really still buy into this hocus pocus? The only thing creepy about the Ouija boards is that apparently there are enough people who believe in them to keep the brand going. It's one of those products that relies upon superstition to survive, like some kind of Snake Oil.

I swear, kids these days will believe anything.

Now get off my lawn!

It could be, if you threw it hard enough.
Essentially.

It's a piece of wood, or cardboard, or whatever they make them out of these days. it's just about as dangerous as a plank of the same weight.

No, not dangerous at all. Its all in how you believe in it.

If you truly believe it will give you answers than yes, you could get some thoughts stuck in your head, but using one for fun, no problem.

Just dont get caught up in believing its true ;P

I'm sorry what?

You can't possibly scare that easily, are you five years old or something?

You cannot communicate to the dead via a board-game. Never thought I'd actually have to type that sentence out of some heavily ironic context.

On second thought, yes, it is dangerous. If you're stupid enough to buy into that crap, you're stupid enough to kill yourself, probably by choking on the token.

Ouija boards are literally toys- in fact the Hasbro company still own the trademark for them.

They were used as fun board games in the past, the idea was you were talking to your 'future self' not ghosts. They only become 'occult' when The Exorcist came out.

Oh yes, they're tremendously dangerous! Just imagined if one of your friends is an asshole and spells out "jump off a cliff?" What then, would you follow the clear directions?
On the other hand, taking these things seriously is obviously a sign of psychosis, which will probably require extensive psychiatric treatment. Yeah, there's some real danger to be found here...

I once did it with friends. Some of my friends actually believed it, and there were indeed words forming. So I (being the scientist type guy that I am) suggested that everyone should wear blindfolds. (except me of course, I would be monitoring and not actually participating)After that only jibberish was being spelled. :D It did make me feel pretty clever, until I read that tons of other people had already tried this.

Probably dangerous to your mental health if you buy into that shit.
Agreed. We have to save the children from witchcraft, and satanism!

First a ouija board, then homosexual orgies and witchcraft.

Yes, this is in jest...should be obvious.
