In my opinion, the various major companies that made RPGs all experienced misfortune. Monolith Software couldn't afford to keep making Xenosaga, Legend of Legaia 2 got less than expected sales, the Wild Arms series has rapidly declined, and with Enix taking over Squaresoft, Final Fantasy games take 5x longer to make and have generally bland plots while their characters are made for the purpose of being sold as toys. Due to the various misfortunes of the major RPG players, do you guys think that traditional RPGs are dead?

i'm sad devs only want the money gain in it, instead of doing them with passion.
but there's always exceptions, so i'll never believe RPG's will be dead! (right now i'm waiting for Deus Ex 3 and an improbable Kotor 3 that won't be a shitty MMO.)

Well actually RPG's are technically thriving,I mean sure some of them me be hybrid freaks which never should've come into existance but still... they are technically RPG's.
