When I was growing up, I went through little awkward stages. Most of you will probably be like "tl;dr" but here goes anyway.

At six, we had to do actions to accompany children's praise songs at school. Everyone else was rhythmically waving their arms in the air side to side. I briefly waved them like I was summoning lifeguard for help, then I stopped because I saw I was doing it wrong.

Sometimes as a kid, occasionally I would look in the distance while narrowing my eyes. I pretended it gave me superior vision, and had a mental image of some kind of suave, powerful, sly set of cartoon eyes that did not belong to me. I was on the sport fields at school, looking for my friends. I saw them walking towards me, laughing at me.

There was also a stage in my life where smiling with my teeth to be friendly, happy, or amused felt awkward, not because of the usual reasons people think self conscious kids try too hide their smiles, it just was. I began to get used to smiling more after I started working, because I had to smile.

I was probably at my most awkward stage when I was twelve. I'd been put in a class I had no friends in, and I sat at my desk being very still and silent. I began to be embarrassed about eating, and sometimes I ate nothing all day. I also occasionally found things funny that no-one else did, like advertisements for science club on the holidays (ironically I was top in my class for science that year), when the head or primary school came into class and singled out some unfortunate guy to explain why they made us keep our uniform tidy and make boys cut their hair, and some tacky eighties educational video with weird music which for some reason made it difficult for me to relax. I tried so hard to keep a straight face and not do anything weird that it defeated the purpose of even trying. I did end up making friends in that class, thankfully.

I guess there are some other things I could say about myself and how I am now, I might later.

So, anything to say about awkwardness in general?

Well overall I'm a pretty awkward person, but I'm a lot better at covering it up that I used to be. Like you at age twelve, I'm extremely awkward when I'm in a class where I don't know anyone. Especially when everyone else already has friends. It depends on how I'm feeling - sometimes I make friends immediately, sometimes I find it impossible to ease into someone else's conversation or just starting talking to a total stranger.

I recently started protesting and I didn't know anyone there, now they're some of my best friends. It also requires me to talk to complete strangers, so I'm a lot better at doing that now. I've found it pretty useful to do things that make me feel awkward or uncomfortable, because it ends up being better than I expect. I blush really easily though, so I try not to push myself too hard otherwise I make it obvious how awkward I feel.

One of my more recent stories of excessive awkwardness was when I was watching on a movie date with this guy, and the movie had a sex scene in it. Usually I don't mind intimate scenes like that, but in context is was pretty awkward. I kept wanting to laugh, but I didn't want to seem immature. I was pretty tense for the entire movie after that. Fortunately it was dark.

Movement is really awkward for me. What the hell am I supposed to do with my arms!? I end up walking around with my arms wrapped around me sometimes, and apparently that makes me look like a loony. Other than that, all the norm. Awkwardness when trying to express my feelings, whether to girls, friends, or parents (or all of the above).

I'm very awkward. I hate being around people and I don't talk to anyone I already know...

I start to sound like a stuttering air-head around people I don't know well. I'm really really bad when it comes to talking to girls. My face turns bright red and I ramble. I have a hard time articulating affection to other people.

I also don't know how to carry myself. What do I do with my arms when standing and talking? How much eye contact is appropriate?

I just had a hard time being with unknown people and in large social situations. There's tons of stories but none that jumps out at me right now.

Pockets, bro. Pockets.

OT: Yes. I was born with rosy rosy cheeks on my face so I easily show 'embarassment'

Which is emabrassing.

I am a very awkward person.

I was at a Dat Phan show in Calgary about a year and a half ago and met the guy afterward. He's an awesome guy and we talked for a couple of minutes. But I started to stutter like a madman asking for his autograph and when he gave it to me I thanked him and tried to leave. But I looked back when he did and the next couple of seconds were arguably the most awkward of my life. Both of us were just staring at each other. Yeah, I'm sure that he thought I was a psychopath or a stalker or something after that; I sure would.

Oh, Definetly! The bimbo who was cutting my hair was NOT Supposed to cut the hair in the FRONT, and only cut the hair generally on the BACK, and she cut it vice versa. It's now spending the summer recovering from that, as I got it luckily cut the Sunday on the last week before school ended.
