decided we needed another thread about body fat since we only have 2 at the moment.....
so take a look at these pics

the ideal body fat for men is about 10-20%
the ideal body fat for women is about 20-30%

so the question is:
1.about what percent are you?
2.are you happy with it?
3.what would you like to be?
4.what do you think society tells you you should be?

added bonus question.
5.which body fat percent of the opposite/same sex are you most attracted to?

please answer all questions if possible

First off:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! WHAT THE HELL 3-4% BODY FAT PICTURE! KILL IT!!! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!!

...that's a person? Well...this is awkward...

Looking a these pictures, I am likely a 30-40% body fat type (guy here). I was probably a 45-50% a few months ago and I am continually working on becoming less of a fat ass. I just plain got sick of looking in the mirror and seeing my fat man-boobs starring back at me....judging me....

Also Note: I am 5'10" and currently weight 190 lbs. The chart in the doctor's office tells me I should weigh 170 lbs at my height at that's my ultimate goal. About six months ago, I weighted 220 lbs and about two years ago I weighted 250 lbs.

Last note: 25% body fat chick is kind of hot...did I just make this situation awkward again? I did, didn't I?

Shit son put some spoiler tags on that shit!
Also it's customary for OP to start these things, tsk tsk.

I'm a male around the 20% mark pretty happy, could always lose a bit more weight and get a bit more muscle but whatever I'm happy where I am. As long as I can fit through a doorway no problem and manage to get home from a 30 minute walk I'll be fine.

Male, and I have about 19% body fat in me, so I'd definitely classify myself in the 20% fat spot. It kinda feels like more because I ate dinner and drank half a bottle of wine.

Note: I'm working on dropping the additional weight. Hopefully my abs will bulge more before summer.

oops my bad
male
my body fat scales tells me i'm rocking about 20% body fat atm and considering i was 12% a year ago i definitely need to do some working out but i currently have some health issues that are forcing me to eat larger quantities of food (don't ask seriously) and my medication is making me lethargic. a recent back injury made me go from lifting 40kg dumbells to 5kg overnight and i have just recently managed to get myself back to 20kg so that aint helping

my main problem with my body is i store the majority of my fat around the waist and hips so i end up with a top half looking roughly like 10-12% body fat guy and a lower half looking like 25% body fat guy
even though i have abs of steel from my years of working out and doing manual labor when i was at 12% body fat they were still barely visible and my upper body looked between 3-4% body and 6-7% fat guy

plus side is i look amazing in a tank top so by the time women find out how flabby i am it's usually too late ^^

i would prolly be most attracted to a woman of about 20% body fat

Male, probably around 25-30%, and aye, that's too much. Alas, whilst I don't overeat, I definitely eat the wrong things, and don't help the situation much by leading a sedentary lifestyle.

Double alas, I have no reason to get more in shape. I'm not unhealthy, just unsightly.

No. I'm as flat chested as a 13 year old boy. I'd love a B or a C cup, but I can't hold onto weight.

Hmm, I guess I'm in the 10-12%.
Not bad, I guess.

Also, I don't know why 20-30% is the ideal body for a woman. The 15-17% picture looks way better.

I'm male. I have no idea how much I have, but from those images, probably around a 25% or so. I'm happy with it, wouldn't want to go above 30% though. As for my attraction to women, I can be attracted from anything around 20% to the 40%. I would possible be attracted to a 45% as well, but that would be the cut off point. 50% is too much. I like girls with some meat on them, but that's too far for me.

I'm currently a female around 45% (though my weight is distributed a bit differently, more on my thighs than in my middle), and I wouldn't mind being at that 35% picture. I don't mind being a bit voluptuous, but I've currently got some serious cellulite going on that needs to stop.

As for guys, I tend to like them a bit meatier as well. Anywhere from 25% to 35% looks good to me.

Considering I'm about 20%, I'd say I'm alright. I could use some more muscle though. I'm just skinny.

As for limits, I'd say about 15%-27% is acceptabe for males, and for females about 23%-37%. Of course it would depend upon the person, and I'm speaking in terms of looks here, not health.

First of all I have to say the pictures are ridiculous. Not only are we seeing differences in body fat - we are seeing differences in genetics (shape, where the fat/muscle goes) and we are seeing a huge difference in muscle.

Anyway, I'm not sure what my body fat percentage is. When I joined the military last year it was around 15% I believe.

It's hard to say what body shape I prefer in women. It depends on the girl. I could pull examples of women I'm attracted to who probably only have 10% body fat and I could also pull examples of women I'm attracted to who probably have 35%.

I'm telling you right now that some people (especially females) have genes that make it downright impossible for them to have very low body fat and keep it that way. To do so would require ungodly amounts of work and discipline. This isn't to say that if you're a chunky girl you can't get skinny - that's plainly untrue. But shooting for a body weight that would lead to you having a poor lifestyle to maintain isn't worth it.

Some girls should be comfortable shooting for 30-35%, other should be comfortable shooting for 10-15%.

As a man, I am a bit on the meatier end of the scale... I fall solidly on the 25-35% range, but I would like to be in the 10-20% range.

As for what I like in teh womens... Anything 10-35% is good for me. 40% looks a bit iffy, and anything beyond that I just don't find attractive at all. :p

I have no idea. None of those images reflect my body type. I'm skinnier than the 25% woman but not as toned or muscled as the women with a lower body fat percentage. I wish my body type was more like the 15-17% picture (especially the arms) but I'm just too fucking skinny. I'm having a lot of difficulty putting on weight.

According to that scale, as a female I'm 35% and I'm working on getting that down a ways and so far so good. That 25-30% looks like a good place to be for me since I'm tall and my bones are fairly thick. I'm not joking since when I used to wear watches I had to get them huge since the regular woman's watches don't fit me. I guess with cellphones I don't have to worry about that anymore. :D

As for the men folk, around 25-25% works for me, and anything beyond that is up in the air really.

about what percent are you?
Hard to tell. I'm somewhat close to the male 20%, but I don't have near the definition or muscle in general.

are you happy with it?
Eeeehhhh. *waves hand back and forth from side to side*
I'm not overweight, I know that for a fact. My metabolism runs around the clock. It's not uncommon for me to eat 7 small meals during a day and yet I weight 170. I think I can see the very veeerry beginnings of my metabolism slowing down as I approach age 30. It sort of worries me, because I may be in the beginnings of obesity.
But probably not.

what would you like to be?
Just a bit less fat. Like, 1-3% less. Just enough to get rid of my muffin top, as they say.
And maybe lighten up my massive thunder thighs.

what do you think society tells you you should be?
I'd say 25% female is healthy and within the "Skinny is hot" realm. Wouldn't go any less than that though.

added bonus question.
which body fat percent of the opposite/same sex are you most attracted to?
25% male.
Pretty much what my boyfriend's body fat ratio.
