There has been a lot of talk about how people refuse to buy EA products, because of their questionable business ethics. I for one whole heartedly agree, and refuse to buy any game that requires origin. But, I was wondering how many people are actually doing this, and how much of it is just empty threats.

I'm not a big PC gamer so I'll just buy EA titles on the console. Easy way to avoid Origin.

No, if EA were to release a game I actually wanted I would probably buy it regardless. Not even sure what the big deal is over EA Origin. I know it sends some your computer data to EA, but I think it has been blown out of proportion

It works fine. Nothing anyone has posted about Origins customer service/practices has even come close to justifying a boycott considering the odds of any of it actually happening to me.

I'm going to play it "Wild" and wait till I actually get burned before I decide on going for a boycott.

I'm not boycotting it, but I'm also not using it. I'm happy to buy whatever games I want to play, but I tend to play on consoles.

No, I already owned The Sims 3 before Origin came out and I got a free copy of Battlefield 3 with my graphics card, so it would be senseless to waste 2 perfect good games just because of the digital distribution platform they use.

I may not actually buy any EA games in the foreseeable future, but that's noting to do with a boycott of the company or platform.

If a game that I want to buy is released on Origin, I'll buy it regardless of any shenanigans EA may get up to... it seems ludicrous to let EA or any company have so much power over your life that you won't play the games you want to.

EA are a maker and publisher of entertainment. I am an occasional customer and user of said entertainment. That's as significant as the relationship get, i.e. pretty fucking insignificant.

Yes, I refuse to do business with EA, and that includes but is not limited to Origin.

I only use Origin when I start up games that need it. Otherwise I don't start it up, I mean it's not like it is that big of a deal to start it up.

That. I have nothing against EA except that they refuse to improve Madden.

I just won't buy any game that requires Origin, it's as simple as that, I'll still buy games from them if I want them that don't require Origin. (Mostly DS games at this point so w/e)

if I boycotted Ea because I don't like their way of business I would also feel obligated to boycott microsoft, apple, nike, adidas, supermarkets, small-family run shops etc.. so, no.

I'm boycotting Origin indefinitely. If Mass Effect 3 is an Origin exclusive then I won't play it.

Maybe.
I don't own much EA titles on the PC anyway and if Mass Effect 3 is an Origin exclusive then I could wait until they give in to complaints and make Origin optional for it (and at that point the price should have gone down a bit).
I guess I'll wait and see

It's not really a boycott, I'm just looking at the inconvenience on one side and the games on the other and deciding no way. If EA start releasing good games again I'll consider it, but there's really nothing on the horizon that's appealing enough.

Uh... sure, why not.

I guess that's a good enough reason to explain why I wouldn't be able to play anything on Origin in the first place.

I'm not boycotting origin but i do hate it. I might feel better with origin if it didn't alienate me off the bat.

i tried to download the BF3 demo and not only did the download seem incredibly slow (i used steam to download a game of similar size and it was downloading faster) but when i tried to play it, i needed to install all manner of directx addons and whatnot.

after 45 minutes of "searching->download->hit play-> "need another addon" ->search again" i finally found them all and tried to play and the game didn't work.

i had a similar problem with directx crap on steam and it said "you don't have these installed, do you want us to install them for you?" clicked 'yes' and twenty minutes later i was playing. origin made me hunt for the downloads and then still didn't work :/

I'm not using it, but thats just because my computer is a piece o' crap. I tried getting steam on it but it didn't work, so I'm assuming origins won't.
that being said, I don't like EA's business ethics, so I probably wouldn't have used it anyway.
