I used to have long and interesting conversations with my friends about real shit. Not, "What if we were all cells in god's toenails" and shit, but just long excited and involved discussions about movies or music combined with personal shit like our fears and our past..

We still talk about shit, but it doesn't seem as interesting or passionate anymore as we get older. I wonder if maybe its just less "new" or if people are just getting more... apathetic? I don't know.

Anyway, how bout it Escapist? Do you and your friends have good conversations? Do you think thats part of why you are here in the OT?

My ability to converse with people in the real world is truly abysmal, hence why I'm on the internet.

Only with a few people. A lot of my friends and I have very superficial conversations. And then I have a lot of friends who I can trust with some things and not others. And I also have friends who don't care about the same things that I care about. So it's a little difficult.

Yup. Considering my band of friends was carefully selected over years, some of them i know back from the high-school/college times, some i met on different parties or in clubs they all are wicked, intelligent and funny same time, also pretty, prettiness is the main value of our bunch.

Simply when you get together a journalist, forensic pathology specialist, psychiatrist, artist, undertaker and art history professor conversations can't go wrong.

Maybe with about...2 people, the conversation quality is good. These are IRL people anyway.

I have meaningful conversations with a bunch of my friends on here. ^_^

Yeah, I have plenty of deep, very deep conversation with my best friends. And while we mostly mess around, a lot of philosophy/ deep conversation and the like goes around.

In real life - hell no, I like my friends but its like I'm on a different level than them. Not to sound narcissistic or anything...

On the internet - Yes.

Although I'm not nearly satisfied with the conversations I have with people in general, the ones I have with the rare few I actually call my friends are really great. Except with one friend, but he's an exception because he's just enormously stubborn and always says and does the opposite I say/do.

I guess most of my friends (like, 6 out of 7 or something (yes, there are only 7 persons or so I actually call my friends)) are pretty intelligent. A good bit over average in most cases. :D

with about ten percent of my friends i can feel i can have good conversations with and talk to them about anything.
85 percent are more how has your day been and that type of conversation.
and five percent i can tell them EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING!!! and they won't think it is stupid.

My friends at uni discussed some pretty shitty and boring topics (I think). The problem is, when I discuss something I think is interesting most people don't know what I am on about or get confused by it :S

I have great discussions with my girlfriend, but not really any of my friends. I guess that's partly why I stalk these forums...

Pretty much this. Internet conversations are fine, though.

I love talking with my friends.

Within a couple of hours me and my friends have talked about music, music theory, copyright law, girls, D&D, D&D alignments, MMA, Jiu Jitsu, Martial Arts, Videogames, pop culture, movies and back to music.

I would like to mention that I have a bit of trouble getting this comfortable with people who aren't my close, close friends.

Never had an interesting conversation in my life.

Maybe with my pap, but not with anyone else.

I'm unable to communicate properly with people in the real world due to social anxiety but when I've known someone for a while and it's not a forced interaction, I can talk to them just fine.

Though, online, I'm very open, socially active and fairly extroverted. Practically the opposite of my offline persona. Other than that though, my online personality doesn't change.

But still, I have great conversation with actual friends when I finally meet them.

With some of my friends. I have a friend I can not have a decent conversation with, but I also have some other friends that I can potentially have deeper conversations with.
