Tell me, people of Escapist, are you superstitious?

This question comes about from conversations I had with friends. Once, I had an umbrella in school and some of my friends wanted to open it but were afraid that it would give them bad luck. Another time a teacher asked some students if they were superstitious, some said yes, some said no and a couple said they only believed in forerunners.

I'm not superstitious, but I'm interested if other people are, so tell me what you believe.

While superstition can be a pain, it also tends to add something more to an otherwise mundane day.

So... I suppose I am, just not entirely. There are some things that are just obviously a coincidence and other things that just kind of crawl up and down your spine while whispering a dark song that will forever haunt your waking nightmares.

Nope, in fact I like to mess with superstitious people for entertainment. There isn't a lot to do around where I live.

No. I've had a lot of bad luck lately, and I haven't broken any mirrors or anything...

I'm not particularly superstitious. Bad stuff just happens to me. Walking under a ladder, or breaking a mirror isn't going to change that. I acknowledge that I can be 'unlucky' but it's more of a chance thing.

i'm pretty sure that asking "are you superstitious" is like asking "are you an evil dick". chances are the people who actually are don't consider themselves to be so. "Why no, i have a perfectly rational fear of umbrellas in houses." "Why no, i like punching babies because i want them to develop character and strong jawlines."

I used to be when I was a lot younger but not anymore. For example I walked underneath a ladder today and nothing bad has happened yet.

Just the other day a man workman on the street shouted "Nooo go back the other way!" when I passed under a ladder he set up against the wall, I just laughed.

Consider what you mean by "superstitious". If you mean thinking that black cat crossing my path or breaking a mirror will give me bad luck, then no. If it includes believing in the Christian god, then yes.

I don't know. I...this morning...I don't know any more.
Can you elaborate? Sounds like it could be a really interesting story.
Well, I knew I had to get up early this morning, as I had a paper to write for school. I had set my alarm about an hour earlier than I usually needed to, so that I'd have time to write it.

About an hour before that, (so, 2 hours before I normally get up), the Carbon Monoxide detector starts going off. It wasn't reading anything, but it had low battery, and it beeps loudly when that happens. I ended up taking care of that, and then I started my paper then.

Turns out, I needed the 2 hours.

It was really weird.
