I wouldn't have a clue as to what the average age here is.
I'm 20, my first gaming system was a playstation, but I used some type of computer for gaming before that.

24 and my very first game system was a Calicovision my dad got me as kind of a way to make up for being an absentee otherwise, and perhaps because he felt a bit guilty having a two or three year old in the passengers seat of his car while driving around the back roads chucking beer cans from the floorboards at stop signs.

31, first system was an NES I got for Christmas '88. My first game was Pac-Man, as my mom gave my then five-year-old self a quarter to go play while she settled a Chinese restaurant bill. The restaurant in question still had that old tabletop cabinet when I was in high school.

16, started gaming on a PC, first console was a 3DO then genesis (Or the other way around I don't remember), and first handheld was a gamegear. Cool part is I still own all of them, except the ancient PC of course, although oddly I never could find it in me to throw the mouse or keyboard away...
