So DC, after a string of arguable misses mixed with regular misses, is putting its foot down. The one movie that everybody on the planet has ever wanted to see, Batman vs. Superman, is coming out in 2015. Coincidentally, it releases on precisely the same day as Captain America 3, which is predicted to be another in the rapidly growing list of Marvel smash hits.

Now, obviously, these movies will both be seen by roughly everyone on every major planet in the universe. But one of them has to come first. You can't watch two movies at once.

So, what's it gonna be? Marvel or DC?

One of the studios will blink and push a release date forward or back.

Barring that, probably Captain America 3. I liked both Captain America films more than Man of Steel. But I'll be seeing both as soon as I can after release.

If I had to choose I'd go with the good Captain. His movies have overall been better then those preceding Batman v Superman(a little better then Batman, a LOT better then superman) and I am liking where the series is headed. Plus;

If I could only see one it will be Cap 3, but I'll see both. I don't really care about Superman and Batman is okay as long as I don't think about it.

If they drop the "Batman v. Superman" and just keep "Dawn of Justice", I'll go watch the former.

Right now, I'm only watching the latter.

I believed the third Cap film also got "Fallen Son" in the title? I can't remember, I just saw a bunch of future marvel film titles that came from the Comic Con in some tumblr. I guessing that could be referring to the Winter Soldier meaning I am more hyped to see that film (he was awesome in the film)!

Captain America all the way.

Which isn't to say I wont see SvB too. I'm one of those people that actually liked Man of Steel, and accepted it for what is was. But regardless, marvel still wins, hands down, every time.

I think you can feel confident that Marvel will not "blink."
In fact, as I think more on what has become typical of DC's strategy of inventing news to increase their time in the 24-hour news cycle, I'm willing to believe at this point that they have never intended to premiere the movie on that date, have only announced they would for press, and will likely change the date again... because that is additional free press.

If they DO keep the date, I'll see Captain America.
DC gets no more money from me for comics or film until what they ask me to pay for stops disappointing me.
I'll watch the DVD free from the library when it comes out.

That's really hard.

Because after "Hail Hydra!" I have such positive expectations for Cap3, but then MoS disappointed me to such a degree I have little no faith in it's production but we are about to see Bats, Sups and Wondy on the big screen for the first time ever! and Gadot and Affleck look good. but the visual tone the over stuffing of characters and Goyer and Snyder, I don't even know if I want to see it so I can legitimately complain.

It'll be a sucker punch if Cap3 isn't any okay. America!

At this post, its %100 Cap 3, I find this a little surprising (thought at least one would say batVSup)

I'm going with Captain America 3 because I really enjoyed the first two and the other marvel films have been awesome (Both Avengers and Guardians have had me muffling cries of excitement). on the other side, The latest Batman trilogy, the only one I would say is good is the second one the other two are forgettable (the third more so the first) and Man of Steel didn't do much with plot and had way too much exposition.

if Batman Vs Superman doesn't make a big splash, then they might as well give up because clearly whoever is in charge of choosing the teams to produce doesn't know what they are doing nor have any respect for the source material beyond the brand name.

I don't think DC will change the date unless they have to. I think DC feels a need to challenge Marvel and this is there way, seeing if they can go up against Marvel head to head. I don't mind spending a little money on DC Man of Steel wasn't a great movie but it wasn't offensively bad like Amazing Spiderman.

I disagree. If DC feels any one need, it's "make money." Not "make a good story." Not "respect fans."
Money.
And it's my contention that they falsely presume PR and press will make that for them more than story and fans will.

Challenging Marvel will not "make them money." It will give them press and make the conversation topical (hey look, we're talking about it now.) And keeping that date serves to cost them money in the end because of fan divide. Disposable income will only go so far each weekend.

They really have learned all the wrong lessons from Marvel's successes.

Oh, Captain America, certainly. I enjoyed the last two, and we seem to be all-in with this whole "Marvel Universe" thing so far. They're taking the time and money to make genuinely good movies, and that deserves to be rewarded.

(Even Iron Man 2 seems to have become "the bad one" retroactively. I agree having seen it recently that it loses some of its shine; the stakes are low, and some of the coincidences and hand-waving don't bear thinking about. But bad? Only by the company it keeps.)

I will probably see Dawn of Justice later, after reviewers have had time to come to some consensus. I'll look forward to seeing the new Wonder Woman (honestly, I think they've done okay, there), and be curious about the new Batman- I'm just not entirely certain it won't be in a "rubberneck at the car wreck" sort of way.

I liked Captain America: The Winter Soldier more than Man of Steel, so Cap 3 most probably.

Plus BvS looks so messy right now, and the only thing I want to see out of it is Wonder Woman and Batfleck.

I totally agree they have no respect for the material they are working with, but they want to prove they aren't second rate to Marvel, remember this movie is just a setup for more movies.

Oh I remember... and should they fail with this film, (and I mean "Green Lantern level" fail not just "came in second") it will be nothing to them to end all existing plans for a franchise and reboot from scratch. That's what DC does.

But what you are talking about is nothing DC's shareholders care about (and certainly nothing Marvel is concerned with.)
"Proving themselves" is simply secondary to "making money" and they will make most all their decisions on that basis.
Not one that might soothe their bruised egos. Money proves more to them in the end.
The headline "DC beats Marvel" will not trump Marvel's established credibility nor will it repair their own.

In order to brave the crowds and shell out $30+ to see a movie, I've really gotta want to see it. Based off of Winter Soldier alone, seeing Cap3 on the big screen is a no-brainer. I'm content to just read/hear about the train wreck cinematic universe that WB is cobbling together.

Captain America all the way, then next week I'll probably go watch Batman vs Superman though I do hope that BvS doesn't suck.

I doubt we have to worry about GL levels of shit, worse case scenario we get an extremely mediocre movie. Yes they are worried about making money first but think if they can show that "DC beats Marvel" headline to their shareholders, that they knocked the king off the mountain, and how much hype will that generate for the Justice League movie. People will be talking about it for a while, questioning if they can do it again.
