Ok, here's the thing escapists: I've read some reviews, played the demos, and absolutely loved Bayonetta.

Unfortuanately, however, my xbox is in the living room, which is a family area, so what I'm asking is, how embarrassing is Bayonetta when playing it?

I'm fine with violence, but it would be pretty embarrassing if it was full on nudity.

I didn't find it embarrassing.

Trailers just made it look like that. After a while you wont even notice it.

The most I've seen of it so far is the 7 minute Gametrailers review. Looks like it's chock-full of posturing, partial nudity and suggestive moaning. Doesn't seem like the kind of thing to play in the family room if you're not comfortable with it.

Its not full on nudity. But you will feel embarressed. she gets her clothes ripped in seductive ways at the beginning and talks very flirtatious to the point where having your mum/dad in the room would be quite uncomfortable

You probably shouldn't play it when others around, especially youngin's, or parents.

Otherwise its not that bad.

I just realized what the OP makes me sound like.

It's not a "family room", it's just in the living room, so anyone can walk in at any time.

Lets put it this way, it's a game you want to play wearing headphones. If the parents walk in you will find the other, non physics based definition of red shift.

On the other hand, if you can get people to buy into how ridiculous it is all is and just run with it, it's a giggle fest to have people watching.

try hiding a playboy in your dad's closet, when mum finds it, they won't even notice a spectacled porn show on screen.

I second this motion!

OT: To be honest mate, if you feel embarrassed by it then don't play it with them around, it's that simple.

Well, it's 40 quid that I could save for a different game that I could play at any time I liked, and not playing it when they're around might be difficult.

Although I suppose if I use headphones it might not be too bad.

I don't quite get why people have been making a big fuss of Bayonetta being embarrassing, hell, my mother was the one who suggested I got the game, and she'd seen all the trailers, she even sat down and watched me play it for about 10-15 minutes.

Then again, that could be because my mother's ridiculously laid back and isn't really fussed about what I play.

But anyway, it's not as bad as the trailer makes it out to be, sure, it's a little bit shameful to watch at the start where she gets her nun outfit ripped off of her whilst moaning in a suggestive manner...Hang on, let me start again.

You can skip the cutscenes if it gets too much anyway, it's not like she gets full on naked and starts doing overtly sexual things towards angels, I mean...Unless you count being ground into the dirt, then utterly annihilated by a disembodied leg sexual, and even when she does lose her clothes in regular combat, they're back within about 5 seconds and unless you're really paying attention to her in particular, you won't notice it between kicking the ever loving shit out of hordes of angels.

Just...Don't buy the Queen costume after you finish it if the sexuality of the game is an issue for you.

I don't really find it embarrassing, but just because I think it's a blatant case of refuge in audacity. The scenes are all so over to top that it gets silly and hilarious, if they would try to tone them down, then it would be far, far more embarrasing and/or offensive.

I say go for it. If you "get caught" in an embarrassing scene just laught it off... you'll be laughting at them already anyway, it'll be easy.

I go the odd look once for playing God of War until I explained that the rippling muscled man in a kilt wasn't some kind of angry homo-erotic sex symbol (with a preposterous jaw line), he was a horribly murderous mortal-turned-Roman-God seeking to tear to pieces everything he encounters. And demonstrating gameplay shortly after. Including the scene in GoW2 with him and those women in the first area.

But then that's me. I don't think people I know would bat an eye if they watched me play any game with a female protagonist that is shapely/scantily clad/mostly nude/etc as they know I've no real interest in any of it, just the gameplay and other kinds of graphics. Or perhaps any study companion she might have, though female protagonists never seem to have any, or ones that are any good/likable, in most games I play.

Different strokes, and etc.

[Edit] Watching some videos of it now, including core gameplay, I'm seeing how vag-tastic a lot of the posing, movements and attacks are. Still looks pretty awesome though, lol, as no devs ever have the balls to try anything like that and pull it off so well. Good show.

Yes, I can see how that could be misinterpreted.

I watched a play-through of it, had to stop if halfway to trough the first chapter, its so cheesy.

[in regards to some guns) "oh these are just toys!"

The amount of awful im-trying-to-be-sexy-and-kinky is huge.

Plus, its far too sexualized for me

My thoughts.
