subject says it all. What is the best book you were forced to read? and why (if you care to add that). The books listed are alot of the ones I was forced to read. Note: you are not limited to narratives, you can also choose text books.

Mine is The Great Gatsby. I liked how it was presented from a third person view but not the omnipotent viewer. I liked all the metaphors in it and it seemed to wrap up well.

I was forced to read, The hatchet. I'm not sure by whom. But still, The book was amazing.

I voted for Frankenstein because I was pleasantly surprised by that. But you should have included A Tale of Two Cities on the list, that was good too, maybe even better. SO much better than Great Expectations. Now that was a horrible book.

It was a book I was forced to read when I was like 5 or 6. I can't remember what it's called =[
But it was about a donkey that ate rotten apples and got drunk xD If anyone remembers it or what its called tell me. Cause it's gonna bug me til I find out. But I loved that book.

I guess the only one I was forced to read was Gatsby.

However I was also forced to read "A Painted House" which was mind-blowingly dull and stupid.

Definitely Frankenstein - I actually read the whole thing instead of just looking up a summary online. Great book.

I don't think a poll is called for, since there are simply too many options.

I.E. Where the HELL is Lord of the Flies?

But I'll be nice and vote other. ^_^

Only one there that I was forced to read was the Great Gatsby and surprisingly I enjoyed it (after my hate for English is now slightly forgotten)
Read To Kill a Mockingbird of my own free will though and probably liked that better

Anthem by Ayn Rand. I'll read 1984 as a requirement next year, but I've considered reading over Summer.

I actually like most of the books I read for my classes, I just don't like having to read them on a schedule.
Except for the Great Gatsby, which I absolutely despised.
