Personally, I never was too into Rare. Never realized how prolific they were until I started going on message boreds. I played halfway through the original DKC, beat DKC3, and played through most of DK64. That's about it.

However, squabbling and nostalgizing (that's a word now) about their past achievements is definitely worth a thread, so chatter away!

Most people will probably end up saying Banjo-Kazooie, but in my opinion Diddy Kong Racing was one of their best works because of how much fun the game was. Also I noticed that it wasn't on the poll list which made me sad. D:

Other than that my vote on the poll will go to the first Donkey Kong Country, because Donkey Kong 64 and I don't get along too well. >.>

Donkey Kong Country all the way. I voted 2 because it was such a major improvement over the first game, though all three games are excellent on their own. They also had awesome music, although it's weird to listen to it without the sounds of buzzing bees and popping balloons.

Just wait until someone waltzes in and says Battletoads... the horror...

Banjo-Tooie for me. It's everything a sequel should be, in my opinion; Bigger, better levels, an expanded world with more characters adding to the backstory, tighter controls and new abilities in addition to all of the ones you knew from the original, and everything was just so much more grand. Well, except for those first-person shooting segments... which (apart from the fact that I never actually played them) is why I can't really give it to Goldeneye or Perfect Dark. That era of console FPS' didn't age well at all.

I liked Donkey Kong 64, but was never a big fan of Country, and I've never really played any other Rareware games.

Just know that if you say Nuts & Bolts, I'm going to have to become your mortal enemy.

Rareware is just the term for any Rare game, yeah? It isn't a set time period of Rare games?

If so then none of those, and my pick would Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, for reasons I've explained multiple times on the forum

Nuts & Bolts was decent, mainly if you had creativity, but it got old really fast and made me miss the platforming. But my greatest creation in that game was Abraham Lincoln's head which shoots lasers from its eyes, breaths fire, has a missile in its hat, and had an EMP for a brain. XD
Really the best part of Nuts & Bolts was when I'd play with my friends and that was it.

I do recommend Diddy Kong Racing though because it is a lot of fun to play and using Banjo in that game is fun too.

I'm traumatized of that game ever since I saw how my friend treated his Pinatas. He fed the parents to the babies....D:

Eh... for me it's the same issue that I have with Final Fantasy XIII. It might not be a bad game, but it's not really a good addition to the franchise that it's supposedly a part of.

I do recommend Diddy Kong Racing though because it is a lot of fun to play and using Banjo in that game is fun too.
Oh yeah, I've played it before. It's a shame that it never became a franchise, really, it had a lot more creativity at the time than Mario Kart did.

I suppose Killer Instinct was my favourite rare game although I also love Perfect Dark for its multiplayer and Donkey Kong Country will always have a special hate filled place in my heart its possibly the game that has annoyed me most in the history of videogames I cant touch it anymore to many bad memories.

Oh yeah, look at it from one angle and there's enough murder and incest in that game to delight even the most hardcore Game Of Thrones fan! XD

Of all the Rare games I've knowingly played, I've played Donkey Kong Country, Diddy Kong Racing, Goldeneye 007, Banjo Kazooie, and Donkey Kong 64. I think I might have also played a little DKC2 at one point, but I don't remember. I've also watched quite a bit of Conker's Bad Fur Day and Banjo Tooie videos, but I've never bothered to play any of them, given the generally better reception of Banjo Kazooie (which I felt was average) and the fact Conker has really only become known for its over-the-top comedy, which really isn't my type to begin with.

Anyways, my favorite would be DK64. Banjo Kazooie just always became a bore by the Rusty Bucket Bay, which I don't remember DK64 ever really becoming dull, even if it had far more to do in it than Banjo Kazooie did. I also liked Donkey Country Returns a lot, but not quite as much as DK64. There was just something special about that game, or maybe it's just my excessively high nostalgia taking over.

No one ever talks about Jet Force Gemini when it comes to Rare games.

It's all kinds of Awesome. It also has a dog who can hover in the air, what other games have that!?

That's kind of the irony of Rare. Back when they were with Nintendo, they were literally a world-class developer doing new crazy stuff. Then they broke off from Nintendo and hooked up with Microsoft... and they're reduced to simply copying Nintendo's ideas for Xbox. Avatars? Kinect Sports? Christ, that's no way for such a legendary developer to end up. It's like seeing some guy after he broke up with his girlfriend, and he's got an inflatable dummy in his bedroom that he's dressed up with her hairdo and some of her stolen garments.
Microsoft was buying them and Nintendo agreed mainly because many of the people who worked on the high class games at Rare had already left after Conker. Nintendo could have bought some of the IPs if they wished, but they didn't want to so it's all fair unfortunately.

I've always loved the Banjo Kazooie series. I also remember really enjoying Diddy Kong Racing. Oh, and Viva Pinata as well, that game is severely underrated.

Oh, I know. I just think it's one of those ironic things. In moving away from Nintendo, Rare ended up a studio that slavishly copied Nintendo. Whereas when they were with Nintendo, they were one of the most unique developers out there.
In Rare's defense they did have some other games planned out, but Microsoft cancelled them and Viva Pinata is actually a really fun and unique series if you ask me. Although as I've said before, traumatized of it because of what my friend did to those poor pinatas. He bread a pig and a swan and the result was something that is forever ingrained in my brain. >.<

Let me get this straight.

You make a thread asking what the best Rareware game is,

and you don't include Battletoads.

I'm very biased to Donkey Kong 64 seeing as how that was my very first childhood game.

Oh yeah Megaman, how silly of me, still it's a great game, and one of my favorite rare games next to Perfect Dark.
