Poll: Best Metallica Album

Just wondering what views people have of the different Metallica albums. Are you more classic 80s thrash, or the hard rock of the 90s, or the fusion of the 2 with Death Magnetic

Or do you like St. Anger, whatever the hell that was?

[I'm not including Garage Inc., because even though brilliant, they didn't actually write the music]

The first 3 albums Metallica put out set the standard for metal in the 80's and most of the early 90's. All they've been doing ever since is trying to make money.

Ride the Lightning Easy, I like most of their older stuff, and some of the new as well though

I must say ...and justice for all. I bought it when I was 14 and only for the title "one". When I listened to the rest of the album I thought it sounded like crap. Four years later, I thought it was one of the best albums in my collection. Strange how taste of music changes in the years.
Now I think "one" isn't even the best song on the album, must be "to live is to die".

2. Kill'em All
3. Ride the Lightning

It's the old thrash Metallica I like.

Pretty much all the best Metallica tracks, with absolutely stunning orchestral backing.

...And Justice for All without a doubt. It's by far their most musically complex and interesting album.

I'm a Black Album man. Sad But True, Wherever I May Roam, Of Wolf and Man... What isn't to like about it? Not to say the preceding ones and Death Magnetic were not awesome (cos they are). Load and Reload I like some but not all.

Though overall the winner is... The Binge and Purge Live DVD box set. Best shows and music ever (to me I am not exaggerating, I have yet to see better).

Everything before and including the black album is a masterpiece in its own right.
Gotta give it to Ride the Lightning though, just for the title track + fight fire with fire. Also because the call of ktulu is pretty much their best instrumental, though the S&M version is better then the original.

I do really like St. Anger, but my favourite is probably... Ride The Lightning. Either that or Load.
