I have a love hate relationship with flame wars. They are fun as hell to read, particularly the epic idiocy. However, they lead to knuckle biting frustration, particularly when they savage an enjoyable thread. What do you guys think? Also, What was the best/worst moment you have had/seen in a flame war? I remember we had this one user with this really long name and no avatar join up to advertise some video with the thread titled "THE GREATEST THING ON THE INTERNET!".
I posted a "not amused by your bullshit" demo and eventually he began saying I was trolling him and it got ot the point where he posted "I WILL RIP OFF YOUR MOTHER"S **** AND FEED IT TO YOU!"
Shortly after that thread we had the first Escapist Potluck.

Can't really say any of them are good but when The Escapist made -oo--oo- give up and run for ever. That was a good moment, I feel.

It really depends on the flame war. For stuff I could care less about, I hate them, they are boring and annoying. For things such as twilight, well i need to vent my frusteration about crap stuff like that, because my girlfriend won't talk to me and has threatened to break up with me if i make fun of twilight. I get the 'I dont make fun of your stupid videogames!!!!' well 1st amendment rights are for suckers anyways. brb gonna get smoked for posting on FB
I quite like reading flame threads near to the end, when it's degenerated past even an attempt at reasoned argument, and the insults have become truly insane, not making any kind of earth sense. I don't like being in a thread which turns flamey, I like coming to them after the fact.

Well I always hate when someone brings up Halo to use as an example of whatever in a bad way, but the one that pisses me off the most is when a thread comes up taunting or disrespecting console gamers like that fucking stupid "Why do console gamers settle for so little thread?"
Any time a Star Trek v. Star Wars argument starts up, the end result will be hillarity. Forums included.

As for flame wars, I think the only time they're amusing is when it's on Youtube and I correct some retard convinced that America won WW2 by itself in a few months, or some such idiocy. Youtards make it too easy.
My favorite moment of any flame war is when it's locked with a good quip from a mod.

I think one of the crowning glories of the console debate is the "Why is it called an Xbox 360? Because you turn 360 degrees and walk away".
