I'd have to say Youtube hands down. It drives me nuts when I see comments littered with abbreviations and misspelled words to the point where I can't even tell if they liked or hated the video. >_<

@Tygerfire:
Pretty sure that issue stems from instant and text messaging. I see enough teens with their damned cellphones glued to the palms of their hands.

I blame them all, especially text messages. And I know how much pain in the ass it is to text stuff with acceptable grammar. So I don't even use them anymore -_- Much easier and faster to just call anyways.
Im with Gormourn. My brain doesnt work in text speak, I must have proper grammar if I dont my brain starts to melt. I catch crap from my freinds when I text, about how it takes too long to read a well thought out and proplerly typed message. Calling is much easier.

That may be true but honestly you can't take TWO EXTRA SECONDS to type a damn word? I can understand when you're trying to get a long message in a short space, but Youtube has 500 characters to work with. Hell, I could type most of this post in that amount of space.

YouTube comments 100%. There's no other place you can find unbelievable ignorance, atrocious grammar/spelling, and the intelligence of a headless gopher on a single web-page.

And chatroom-speak slowly developed into text-speak, you guys realise. Not the other way around.

AGREED AGREED AGREED AGREED AGREED AGREED, I can not stand text messaging, if you want to send a message you don't have to butcher our language in the process and calling IS much easier, you get an instant response you don't have to wait ten minutes for someone to message back, you have vocal cords for a reason.

Zero Wing http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/52/AllYourBaseAnimated.gif is the most disgusting (and highly humorous) example of butchering the English language... as much as I hate slang and such in teenage texting (1337 Speak isn't so bad when it's intended for funny, parodist results IE: Arby and the chief)

I'd say all of the above, but since that's not possible, Fan Fiction.

The idea is... Cute.

The execution is an absolute disgrace to language, reason, logic, structure, spelling, grammar, mood, theme... I could go on and on if I wanted to get my notes out.

Anyways.

Youtube comments are absolutely retarded, and should be removed from the site.

1337 5P3|< in and of itself is an interesting spin on symbolism. Those who speak it are a disgrace to the human race.

Texting is both a blessing and a curse; there are those who absolutely destroy language using texts, and others who help the language to evolve through efficient use of synonyms and short hand.

Youtube comments, absolutely. At least texting has a nominal bias towards compression (and leet is pretty much code-speak, from what I understand). And I don't read much fanfiction at all.

Chatting in general. I loathe chatting and "intarnetz spek" in general. Actually reminds me of this kinda funny scenario... once on Kongregate I was the only person in the room using proper grammar and punctuation, and had to explain to everyone that because of how much I type (for writing up homework, poetry, and prose) it's actually harder for me to type incorrectly. I'd have to make a conscious effort to not properly use grammar and punctuation.

so srlsly giyz its crzy

(^-For example, that sentence took about three quarters of the time it took to write this one. Twice as long before I noticed I had punctuated and used a capital "s".)

Whichever minority group decided that grammar and punctuation wasn't "fly," and concluded that the truly powerful, cool and rich gangsters were those who had rejected language comprehension and sentence structure back in their school days.

In other words, 50 cent types and the white gangsta wannabes who worship at the feet of said arrogant jerks. Sure, butchering the English language can be fun when done satirically, but these people are completely serious about it. At least I assume they do. If they really are all playing a massive joke on us, rappers are much smarter and more clever than I've given them credit for.

I don't hate them or anything, but I think they're most responsible for the degradation of proper English sentence structure.
