A simple question. Which did you choose?

I chose bird. For some reason, my mindset at the time was that I wanted Elizabeth to fly free. The cage seemed rather crass, since she had just spent her whole life in one.

I saw someone post that they picked cage, because choosing that would help her face her fear; for them, the bird represented Songbird, the limiting element that kept her oppressed.

Related to this choice, something I noticed about the ending that threw me a bit:

I chose bird, but during the ending sequence, when Elizabeth is taking you on a tour of the infinite, I noticed her necklace had changed to the cage. Does this mean that the Elizabeth that walked me to the end of the game WASN'T the same one I had walked the boardwalk with?

I'm interested to see if others shared my experience.

The Bird the first time, and I am now playing on 1999 mode and have chosen the Cage to see if anything different happens. I don't think it does though.

As for the second spoiler you mentioned, I honestly did not notice, but I will keep a look out for that this time and see if it changes for me.

The first time around I drew my weapon at the festival park area. The second time I chose to demand tickets instead. The guy stabs your hand into the desk with a knife. Later on Elizabeth will bandage it up, and that bandage stays there, at least as far as I have gotten anyway (I am at the part where I need to get the guns for the Vox).

Bird.

Symbol of freedom over symbol of entrapment. Symbol of her only friend over symbol of her prison. Symbol of her future over a symbol of her past. Seemed like an obvious choice to me.

Besides, birds are pretty. Cages not so much. Unless it's a gilded cage I suppose, but those are generally still considered to be bad things.

Bird, I guessed that Elizabeth liked songbird, mentioned it was her only friend and I saw the cage as the negative "cage the bird" option.

Course, I spent all of 1 second deciding so maybe I'm not the best indicator.

I chose to draw my gun. A shootout ensued and Elizabeth ran away, telling me I was a monster. My hand never needed to be bandaged and remained normal for the rest of the game.

The first time I chose the bird, because of the whole "breaking free" thing. Then I figured out maybe an hour later that it won't change anything but Elizabeth's model.

For my next playthrough I chose the cage because why not.

I know, that's what I did on my first play through, I was referring to my second.

She still calls you a monster and runs away, but the dialogue in the gondola is slightly different.

I rejected those answers. I chose something diffrent. I chose the impossible. I chose... the bird in a cage.

Where the cage not fear the flightless, where the bird not fear the metal. And with the birds in your cages, it can be your pendant too.

I chuckled more than I probably should have.

OT:
I chose the bird for same reasons as Zhukov and I assume a lot of other people.

I checked the necklace at the end it was still a bird for me. Unless I'm remembering it incorrectly, I'll double check it later I guess.

EDIT: Upon further inspection she wears the right pendant right up to final scene just before you open the door to the last baptism where you get smothered. However I noticed the pendant changed during the 2nd boat ride just before that when Booker talks about smothering Comstock.
During the final scene none of the Elizabeths are wearing either pendant.

Cage, also the bandage disappears at the end and i still have no idea why. In game anyway the out of character reason is most likely so that people who haven't seen the brand for however many hours won't forget it's there.

Just saying that choosing one or the other doesn't change things.. Not from what I've seen anyway. I chose bird because I wanted Elizabeth to be free, and I was going to help her achieve her freedom.

Just wanted to answer your question.
The Elizabeth at the end is not the same Elizabeth that you've had your adventures with.

How do you know?
She, and none of the ones that drown you, are wearing the necklace. Remember that she's kept it on through near-death, being tossed through the air, changing outfits, and being tortured for months. It disappears after the final dimension door.

I picked the bird, a symbol of freedom.

The bird was prettier, but I picked the cage. The best way to appreciate freedom is to never forget the alternatives.

Also, the previews implied that Elizabeth would be torn between Songbird and Dewitt. That influenced my decision more than a little. Shame that conflict didn't really materialize...

I thought she was asking which pendant I wanted, so I picked the cage because it had a nice symmetrical design. Second time around I'm doing the bird, of course.

Although the choices in this game have no actual meaning as you will come to understand in the end, I chose Bird because I felt it was most appropriate at the current time.

I watched my sister play the game (who was the third person I've seen play it) and we both chose the bird.
I said to her
"You, like Forrest [another friend I've seen play the game] before you and myself before him. We all chose the bird because the bird represents..."
"Freedom." she said.
"That's exactly what Forrest said and exactly what I thought when I made that decision."

Funny, the Decoy will have a bandage no matter what. I was hoping the choices would have some effect other then what the two be wearing.

I never had a bandage at all the entire game. I drew first.
