Anyways, what do you guys think about headshots, and how often do you use them in games? I personally don't mind them, but in some games they can be unbearable.

Yep, I use head-shots, that way I don't have to worry about a target for so long, and I can move on to the next.
Although, the bounty quests in NV were a pain, as you had to avoid getting a head-shot kill for the full bounty...

Although, the bounty quests in NV were a pain, as you had to avoid getting a head-shot kill for the full bounty...

It was made worse since I had Boone as a companion and I am a sniper by nature. >_<

And... that pretty much says how I feel about headshots. I get ticked off when I don't get them in FPS games. It makes me a perfectionist at least though.

I aim for the head whenever I can in FPS games, but usually it's when the enemy is at a certain range. That's why I play as a sniper quite a lot in Team Fortress 2.

I play sniper in TF2. Head shots are habit now.

If I'm playing Battlefield 2, I try to aim for the head, or just be happy with a hit.

...however, if I'm on ARMA, I just aim right at them. It doesn't matter where that .50cal BMG hits you, it's gonna fuck you up!

If it's a single player game, my strategy is usually, depress trigger untill bad guy stops moving (assuming I haven't gone the sneaky sneaky route).

For the few times I venture online, I make a make a half arsed attempt at it only if I'm using a sniper rifle or similar.

Actually, you can get a headshot with a shotgun from 50 metres. It's easier if the things loaded with slugs instead of buckshot, though.

Reminds me of the "Pro Shotgun" addon from GMod: It's a regular shotgun, but it always shoots a round exactly where you shot it.

Anyway, aiming for the head should be a habit for most shooter genres.

Sure you can. It depends on a lot of different specifics of the shotgun and round fired, but 50 yards(~45 meters) is usually cited as the maximum effective range for buckshot and effective range isn't even maximum range.

Hell, in theory it's actually easier to get a headshot with a shotgun at range because you are filling a small cone instead of single line. If even a single pellets strikes the target in the head it would be a headshot.

Oh god, I love headshots. Even if the odds suck in Fallout 3, I still go for the headshot. It's so gratifying when you finally shoot the head off some dude.

As long as it's within reason, headshots, and other body specific damage actually improves my liking of a game.

Red Dead Redemption, using the Euphoria engine, actually made me really happy. I would love to see more games come out with better specific damage happen.
