Now, I know that there are plenty of cases in life where people don't make any sense, but would it be unreasonable to ask people to just try to do so on a forum? I'm not sure how you'd review that exactly, buuut a several-paragraph post deliberately dedicated towards not really making proper sense or making a point seems to be a waste of everybody's time.

What does the Escapist think?

All I know is that you just made a Fallout: New Vegas reference.

That part made sense.

And yes, I agree.

I think some people confuse making a wall of text with making a better argument.

Their failure is to know I have no such attention span to read such on a forum thread that will fade away.

I find that sentences making sense goes the way of the large popcorn machine

Sorry but I did have to read that 3 times for it to make sense.

Some people like to ramble, some people are better at getting straight to the point. You can't expect everyone to adhere to a certain writing style just to give your brain a rest. =P

Well when I do it, it's not really intentional, I just go off on a tangent and end up typing a completely unrelated story, I also tend to be sleep deprived and barely awake when I do that, so that's probably why it hasn't been happening so much lately, sadly I now have nothing to make my posts different but I'm pretty sure I just repeated the same 5 or 6 stories, so it's probably for the best, but I've said this way too many times now, so I guess that's the replacement for those stories that I totally didn't type just now and then deleted to avoid posting them for the thousandth time.

[small]Looks like I'm not the only one who had to read it more than once for it to make sense.
mmmmm tasty morning irony.[/small]

Isn't escapism a form of wasting time? I mean, I don't mind reading through the odd nonsensical thread, it's entertained someone if it hasn't entertained me.

I would rather have a page of nonsense than another one of these bitchy whiny threads about people not using the search button or necroing things, or just about what people should or shouldn't do on the site. They piss me off no end. If it's not allowed on the forum, then the mods will sort it. Report it if you feel appropriate, don't just ***** about it.

That's gumf Jack because most people:

We're all here to have fun and whether we get that from a pithy, ribald, comment or an extensive review of someone's poo or even a non-intentionaly funny post about someone's mad idea for a game about cats does not matter. It is all good crack.

Is the OP supposed to be supremely ironic, or is the OP just posting when drunk? I can't quite tell...

I think I wish I could remember that guy who made a similar post, only he proclaimed himself God Emperor King of Syntax, Grammar, and Punctuation, and then proceeded to write something that made no fucking sense whatsoever because he was clearly just trying to use big words.

And why have we now got multiple choice captchas? The ONLY ones I will accept are the ones where we're asked to 'describe this brand', and I get to write 'shit' in a raucous display of wit.

A post about how people should make no sense that makes no sense. The irony is delicious...

Why does this suddenly come to mind?
It is cheese, breath, and wind. It is cheese.

But seriously, there's nothing wrong with the occasional nonsensical post. In fact, when talking nonsense, it makes more sense that with the nonsensical paragraph written that actually making sense isn't what's wanted because when talking nonsense the sentence doesn't make sense for you to read what it's saying and can't understand. But sometimes when reading the nonsensical post when not making sense of the words being written that talk nonsense in the first place, you get the gist of the paragraph anyway when not making sense in the forum post written to not be understood by anyone reading except that the point they're trying to make in the words isn't what you were looking for and still makes sense to you because the nonsensical post goes on and on and it's obvious it makes no sense yet you continue to read it because you know that - when talking nonsense - that the words in the nonsensical post aren't unintelligible but just muddled sometimes to not make sense in the context of nonsensical words being written in the forum post when talking nonsense.

Also, who's to dictate what does and doesn't make sense? Where would you draw the line?

Agreed.

If you have to make a wall of text just to get a point across, you probably should just scrap it and start again.
