Can they?

I've recently noticed that since my childhood days I only changed so little. I've changed my music tastes, points of interests and such, but my most basic character traits remain the same (geekiness, cowardice, awkwardness, etc.). So it came through my mind that maybe all our life we are actually different versions of the same person.

So what's your opinion on this matter escapists?

It depends on the person, there are people out there who party all the time but if they say got in a drunk driving accident killing 6 orphans and a basket of kittens would never drink again, and others who would immediatly continue after the crash.

well I changed, althought most my predominant trait haven't changed much, but I am way less awkward, shy and coward that I was, for me I think it a life work to change yourself, I was a lonely no life play computer all the time not interesting guy to the easy going open minded playfull and social guy and those big step are only the beginning, been working on myself for 3 years now. I all about patience, introspection and selfthought.

I'm still figuring out what kinda person i am exactly so lord knows if i can change.
I think some can, most comes with maturity, a lot of people i knew when they were teenagers when i was kid were utter arses, but they've (most of them) grown up a bit when there in their late twenties.

Of course they can. It is rather silly to think otherwise considering the abundance of evidence to the contrary.

They can but only if they wanted to . It's not easy to change , but it's possible if you have a lot of willpower .

Obviously.
You can either be changed by something happening to you or because you make a concious effort to change.
Some people are too set in their ways to even bother to try to change, though.

What would you consider change? My answer is "Yes" for the record but depending how you define change, you may disagree with me.

Yes, that is if that person is willing to change for him/herself. Forcing doesn't work all the time.

Yes, not all people can change but some people can. In my younger years when I was naive I was a white knight. Now I wouldn't even recognize my younger self!

People change when you don't want them to, and they don't when you do want them to.

Can people change?

Is the Pope Catholic?

It's entirely possible, and can happen both consciously and subconsciously. You can choose to change and make that change, or you change overtime without really thinking about it, and never realize it for the longest time. Changes in personality, interests, views on life, and the like are what's in qustion here, and yes, those, and thus the people who've changed such, can change.

In Primary school, I was athletic and popular, In high school I am now average and have roughly 3 friends. No traumatic experience, It just 'happened'.

Also I've found, with a girl, my mind has changed its likes and dislikes.

I try to at least change my underpants daily, personally.

I used to be quite outgoing, wanted to be an actor, etc. Then puberty.

People can change. Either because of something going on in their lives, or something that has happened to them already. Or because they wanted to and have the great will power to do so. But some people are stubborn and won't change no matter what. There are those who will try to change, and then claim to be changed, but you can see that they obviously haven't.

As for me, I was so damn naive. I thought I knew what I wanted and what I was doing four years ago. Somewhat traumatic events changed me, happy events changed me again just two years ago. At the moment I'm going through so much stress I can barely tell who I am sometimes, but once it is all done and dusted no doubt I won't be exactly the same as I was before it.

No they cannot.

Eventually your mold will harden, and you can not change yourself. It will have become a engraved into you, and even though you may conciously fight it, your unconciousns (fuck that word) will always have a grip on you.

When this happens I can't say. I imagine it depends from person to person.
So, you're saying that people can change until they can't change anymore. And so they cannot change. Oh-kay...

And please, do not quote me about how wrong you think I am (viewing the polls I imagine everyone would love to jump me). I'm not going to reply and get into a major philosophical psychological bull-shit quote-war thank you very much.
I guess it's too late for me to change.
