It looks like it could be kinda' interesting. Could somebody pelase share their views on the game? Is it worth the price? How does it compare with other games of the genre? etc.

Thanks.

Played it as heal/buffer to lvl 50, and stopped having fun at about 20. Once you realise how weak your powers are (to make it more pvp balanced, phooey!) it just becomes a pricey grind. I loved it for 2 years, but i'd never go back.

it can be kinda fun, but there is absolutely no endgame. as the person above me stated, it becomes just an endless grind. play it for a couple months until you get bored, but don't expect any more than that.

I see. That doesn't sound all that bad, sounds like a good time killer I guess. I'll think about it for a bit, then report back my decision.

Just to check OP, you know it's a sub game right? If it was f2p, i'd still play it now. Maybe. Agreed about needing a good group, though.. How i miss the shifty seven!

Yep, I do. I don't really mind throwing $15 a month for a game if I'm going to get a lot of enjoyment from it though.

Hmm, fair enough then. I'd say it's worth a good go, if for nothing else, then for the create mode and glamour shots you can screencap of yourself.

Not that i did that.

No sir.

I played it when I was younger, and had a lot of fun with it, even though I couldn't get past level 14 (LOL) because I died so much and I'd have to grind for weeks to make that up.

I spent half the game creating coolio superheroes anyways.. ^^'

If you play, get a group to play with, it makes every game better! :D

Not that i did that.

As one of the aforementioned 100+ character altaholics I absolutely recommend CoH. It's a very good game with an excellent community. Soloing is viable for just about any character (some more than others of course, but there's only a handful of powerset combinations that really can't handle soloing) and if you're used to LFG in other MMOs you'll find CoH quite refreshing because most players are not enslaved to the 'holy trinity' of tank/healer/dps.

One thing to bear in mind - the hero content, or blueside, is generally quite old, and not really as polished as the newer stuff. Villains, aka redside, has shorter, tighter mission arcs and better writing. Praetoria, the newest expansion, has the best writing and really good mission design, but it can be a lot tougher than the other stuff.

Anyway, villains are best. Robbing banks and beating up cops and heroes never gets old.

Of all MMOs I've tried it's my favorite by far. Just remember that the game doesn't use the typical tanker healer dps set up. In COH it's better to prevent the damage out right than to heal it.

Try a Dark Defender. Take Darkest night at level 2 and use it all the time. You'll quickly see why Buff/Debuff dominates the game.

Well, I brought the game. Thank you everybody for your helpful responses. I'll be downloading it over night. If any of you wouldn't mind showing me around the game once I finish downloading, could you like give me your character name or whatever and I'll send you an ingame message?

The good: insane character creation options, powers look and feel cool, just flying around the city is fun

The bad: unforgivably repetitive.

I played Villains. It's the best MMO I've ever played, but that's not saying much as the only others I've played are WarCraft, and Runescape.
DCUO comes out soon though, save your money.
You shouldn't be supporting steam anyways.

It was kind of fun, but as I recall there wasn't a whole lot that separated the low level area from the holy-shit-these-guys-are-50-levels-higher-than-me areas

i think its going F2P in Q1 or 2, or maybe thats the other superhero MMO, or the third, either way i would wait it out as its guaranteed to go F2P soon.
