Well, we've all placed our pre-orders, waiting impatiently for our keys to unlock. But one question rests in my head, overriding everything else. Will Yahtzee review this game?

If he doesn't care about RTS's, than he probably wont care about TBS like Civ. That said, it would be cool though if he did it anyway.

Civ is nothing like RTS games, it's more like a fine champagne, as opposed to your generic Foster's Beer FPS.

Chances are he will be bored to tears with it. It just doesnt seem like his thing. Although I myself am excited about the game.

The only thing more boring than an RTS game is an RTS game review.

I'd much rather see him deal with the melodrama of Other M, the "one that had potential but was squandered by poor execution" known as Alpha Protocol, Dead Rising 2, the new downloadable Tomb Raider, Amnesia, or Castle Crashers (a game people keep on telling me to get, but it looks awful to me)

Should he do one yes but to be honest i could see him not have enough time to play it so it would be poor.As his best work seems to be is when he completes the game as i guess he has more material to work with.

Even Yahtzee would have to go out on a limb to slag Civ off :p

Essentially it will come down to, do you like the Civ games, if yes you'll like this, if no you wont. its like reviewing a potato. Your hardly revealing anything by attacking game mechanics because they have been the same since I was 2. Combat is essentially D&D with a computer rolling your dice. You know, like when I was 2. Leaving the only real difference being the graphics.

He might as well review the original 1991 civ. You'd end up with the same thing.

Id rather he review something like Ruse.

Now that is a good comment!

Ruse is a very different game compared to the standard RTS...

If you want to know Yahtzee's opinion of the standard RTS:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/645-Halo-Wars

Also he made a reference to the Total War series... which wasn't nice. But I can't find that one.

No unit stacking, from all the previews it is a big change and brings back strategy to the game. I'm excited, because I love Civ. I don't care if Yahtzee reviews it or not.

BTW What kind of ignorant moron thinks a Civ game is an RTS? It's missing the R and the T!

To be fair Halo-Wars is a substandard RTS...

Im not sure one small change, no matter how key to the mechanics it might be, could keep Yahtzee's rant going for the requisite 4-6 mins :p

Also, Halo wars was on a console, of course it was sub par. Whatever idiot decided to release an RTS exclusive to consoles honestly wants to be shot.

Start the video at 2:32 and it will soon get to what he thinks of the genera...

The total war and Civilization series's will be the same: (quote off the video)
"dry RTS that appeals to middle managers who can no longer tell the difference between fun and Microsoft Access"
...In his view.

Personally I want these types of games left alone by him :( However I be his assessment of both will be similar.

Yahtzee is a mainstream guy, good for telling us about how blowing stuff up is fun. He also enjoys bashing story and characterisation. His favourite stuff is not relevant at all in TBS games.

He also can't play RTS and knows it. TBS will be worse for him. This is fine aslong as he stays away from these genres.

Well, I got it. And I have one major problem so far.

The game isn't on the fucking disk.

No, all the disk does is install DirectX. I have to actually download the rest of the game. I didn't buy a retail copy to fucking download the game. I bought the retail copy so I won't have to spend 3 fucking days downloading the fucking game god dammit. Put the full game on the fucking disk you asshats.

There, rant over. Sorry to fill your thread with my rage but I didn't want to start a thread about it.

Hehehe! ^^

Steam gave pre-loads for those who pre-purchased the game, through Steam. The game only is released in here on the 24th but played the Demo and the meager 100 turns were awesome. Friday never arrives....

If I'd have known they be hateful enough to not include the game on the game disk I would have bought it off Steam. But I didn't, because I didn't want to spend a long ass time downloading the game. This is one reason people buy retail in the first place.

Sorry if this rage seems directed at you. Its not, I'm just very angry right now.
