So yeah, poll thread. I put up a list of games I kinda feel like playing again.

I've been spending a bit too much time with Baja: Edge of Control here recently, and I want to do something else. I'm feeling indecisive at the moment, though, which is where you guys come in. I'll try to explain why each game is on the poll...[hr]First Modern Warfare because I genuinely see it as the zenith of the Call of Duty franchise. Everything since has been, well, shit. They just keep trying to one-up each other and go completely stupid in the process.

Blazing Angels, well, I'll always liked arcade air combat, especially WWII planes with machine guns. This game, however, adds all kinds of things that weren't actually used in WWII, like Tesla Coils and homing missiles and stuff.

I actually quite enjoy id Software's Rage from back in 2011. It's fairly standard as far as FPS games go, and the vehicle combat is merely alright; but it's at least not just another "War on Terror" game.

Mass Effect 2 is always fun. I've put more hours into this game than I'd like to admit... The Suicide Mission is always a hell of a thrill ride, even if you're doing it absolutely perfectly.

War for Cybertron and its sequel are immense fun to me, the sequel admittedly more so because it just adds on so many extra things to make the individual robots play differently. Consider this a vote for me to go through WfC, followed by playing through Fall of Cybertron immediately after.

Binary Domain has a certain B-Movie charm about it. And the character interactions are actually quite well done, I'll give it that. Plus, tearing apart robot enemies piece-by-piece hasn't been done this well since, and the only one that does it better is Metal Arms: Glitch in the System which came out a long time ago.

I actually like Daniel Craig's 007, I've got him as one of my featured Badges for a reason; and I rather enjoy playing the games made using Craig as 007. The re-imagined GoldenEye is quite entertaining to me.

I'll admit that its prequel Playground of Destruction is a far superior game, but World in Flames is still an enjoyable romp through a tropical paradise that gets reduced to a smoking ruin by the time you finish your mission.[hr]So, which one of these games do you guys think is most worth my time?

Of the stuff I played, which is only COD4, ME2, Binary Domain, and like a few hours of Mercs 2 (because it was so not nearly as good as the 1st one); Binary Domain was an unexpected blast from a story and character standpoint, it was a legit good B-movie basically. Plus, it's obviously not a time sink of a game like most open world games and RPGs are (though your list doesn't have many of those type of games).

COD4 is a safe bet, though WaW was a pretty good campaign too, and you could also just play Spec Ops The Line instead.
I remember really looking forward to Blazing Angels before it came out and being majorly disappointed by how paper thin the flying mechanics were. You'd be better off with something that has a bit more meat to it, like Heroes Over the Pacific, Starfox or one of the Battlestations games. Forget Rage, and get yourself Mad Max instead. Unlike Rage, Mad Max isn't actually broken. ME2 is a classic choice. Can't complain about that- though if you want a really good singleplayer experience that's like ME2 but different, look up Star Control 2. And avoid Goldeneye Reloaded like the plague. It's fucking abysmal on it's own merits, and made worse by clearly trying to one-up Goldeneye at every opportunity and just looking like a sad wannabe at every turn. Get Bloodstone, Nightfire or Everything or Nothing instead, unless you don't mind a slower pace in which case get From Russia With Love instead. I was so deeply burned by World in flames that I can never go back to it. Just play The Saboteur instead- that's the true spiritual successor to Mercs 1.

I played the Metal Arms demo on my xbox back in the day and was really surprised at how great it handled. The story didn't grab me enough to get it though. Same deal with Scrapland.

I never really cared much for World at War and still much prefer MW1; and I doubt I'll ever actually go back to Spec Ops.

I like Blazing Angels because it looks like it's using a "roll-then-pitch" style of flight but the controls are still simplified arcade controls where the plane goes where you point the stick; and Star Fox is basically "After Burner for furries", which really puts me off.

I enjoy Rage, and I'm actually not much looking forward to playing Mad Max(have had a copy for a while but never played) because of its apparent focus on melee combat. I'm not exactly the type for brawlers or fighting games.

As I said in the OP, I like the Daniel Craig 007 games, and I like GoldenEye Reloaded more than I like Blood Stone, having played through both.

And Mercs 2, alright, you got me. Have yet to play through The Saboteur yet, but I'll get to it. Eventually.

I voted Mercs 2 simply because tit gave me an instant flashback to the theme tune (oh no, oh no, OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO).

But Mass Effect 2 is probably my favourite game of the list, since it's the one that has the most focus on characters, in fact it's a game entirely about lots of little character arcs with the main plot being a sort of background event.

Call of Duty 4 I liked, but it is somewhat spoiled by the retcons that came in MW2 and 3, which take reasonably well grounded plot into Michael Bay level of silliness.

Actually, if you have a system that can play it, Metal Arms is like $15 on Ebay nowadays, go get that, it's still amazing.

I have Metal Arms as a download on my 360.

It's better than Afterburner, don't let the furrehs put you off, but it's definitely a rail shooter more than a flying game.

I'd rather actually fly freely(well, using simplified arcade controls, but you get my point) than just ride a rail.

And while I can see past the fur factor and find a decent game underneath, I'd still rather not deal with that crap. Rogue Squadron is still superior.

Blood Stone
That's what it was! Just recently I was in the car and remembered playing a Bond game a couple years ago that I thought was pretty fun, but couldn't for the life of me remember the title. I have a soft spot for solid, 7/10 popcorn games like Blood Stone.

Anyway, my vote is for COD4. I agree with you completely, IW's first shot at a modern setting was there best, The only COD game I connected with after it was Black Ops 1.

Glad to help you find the name of a game you remembered. Yeah, Blood Stone isn't the best, but it's passable.

I didn't even really care much for Black Ops, looking back on it. MW1 is still my single favorite CoD game.[hr]

I'd go for War for-Fall of Cybertron and/or Binary Domain over the others for a bit of something different.
You know what, why don't I play through all three of those. Transformers first, then BD after.

Oh, yeah, at least in the US version, BD's player character Dan Marshall is voiced by the same guy that did Sideswipe(Travis Willingham) in WfC & FoC; and Beetle Team's field commander Charles Gregory is voiced by Troy Baker and sounds remarkably similar to his Jetfire voice from WfC & FoC.

Alright everyone, close down the voting. I must apologize to those who voted in favor of Mass Effect 2 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, but I've decided that I will play through Transformers: War for Cybertron, followed by Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and Binary Domain in that order.

Thank you to all that participated in actual conversation.

I forgot Afterburner was a game I played as a kid. And Thunderforce. Ah the memories... That I doubt I'd want to go back to
