Poll: Cod 4: Assault Rifle Poll

I did a check and didn't find exactly what I was looking for. Found a few vaguely similar threads but I searched a few pages and didn't find anything, excuse me if this was done before. I'm looking to see what assault rifles people are using right now and why. This isn't a discussion about which weapons you hate, its about which one you prefer.

I myself prefer the G36C as it has more stopping power per round than the M4 and a slower firing rate, I can see the enemy through the gun flash better and putting Double Tap on it in Hardcore matches does't seem to destroy the recoil. Also, while recoil is usually something you dont want a lot of, it's nice to have a bit of a bullet funnel when aiming won't cut it and I find the M4 lacking in that regard. Decent spread, decent damage, decent firing rate.

I tend to use my MP5, but if it comes down to an assault rifle, The G36C's usually the way i go.

Interesting and considering the state of the world today, unsurprising. My brother has a friend who uses a G36C but says its utter crap. I was wondering if you had any input? Gamewise I love the gun, real world, I wouldn't know and I wouldn't even attempt to make a correlation.

My M4 is my baby, I clean it every other day (already clean or not). Shoot expert with it, and named it. I guess its all preference, but I'm just glad I'm not messing with a garbage M16A2 anymore.

Personal input is that when you're shooting a "target" at about 250 meters plus with the 5.56 from the shorter barreled M4, that, well in my experience My round knocked the guy down and he stood right back up. A few more had to be administered.

There's been many a time I've come up against the M16/w Stopping Power, only two things ever save my life, Juggernaut and Luck. I'd use it more often but sometimes the enemy gets lucky and sometimes they use Juggernaut. Squeezing the trigger once and expecting a kill breeds the habit of squeezing the trigger ONLY once and expecting a kill. The mechanics didn't bother me, it was the habits I formed with the gun. I typically hold the trigger down and keep sight on target until they drop to the floor with an auto. With some of the other single-shot weapons you have to fire multiple times so this habit of mine only really shows up with the M16. There's no denying its a powerful weapon though.

You guys have any reason for steering away from one assault rifle or another?

I've been using the m14 with the red dot sight, so far I'm really liking it.

Research before YOU post? I'm referencing weapons in the video game Call of Duty 4 that are all grouped under the destinction of 'Assault Rifle.'

The only difference between an assault rifle and battle rifle anyway is that a battle rifle is a military body's primary assault rifle.

Alrighty then. A battle rifle is still an assault rifle though, dont call people out on research before you've done a bit of your own, k? I've tried a similar thread in other forums and it only takes one guy to change the topic to 'Real World M4 vs AK'. It gets irritating...
