Now im not asking what one is better, World of Warcraft or Lord of the Rings Online, simply which does the escapist prefer. I personally play LOTRO. Mainly cause it's lord of the rings and I like seeing all the places created in real life (you know what I mean) from the books. Also the cartoony graphics of WOW get to me for some reason. What do you think?

Same. I intend to re-subscribe when I get a new computer and pick up where I left off for cataclysm with my RL and old guildmate friends.

I've played both. LotR was cool, but my friends didn't really jump into it, so i just never got into it. WoW was fun for the past couple of years, but i'm really just on board for Star Wars, and if that fails i'm done with MMO's.

I personally preferred LOTRO, played it before it was FTP. The world seems more 'consistent' (I'd say real but, you know). There seems to be less faffing around too, e.g. I have yet to find an equivalent to Goldshire. RP servers also have more/easier to find RP in LOTRO than the RP servers in WoW as well if that's what floats your boat.

Played most (western) MMOs and while I'm not interested in the moment but in terms of game play I still reckon WoW has it down. Now, their community is total fucking filth and for that reason I would never recommend anyone play it but in terms of quest content, mechanics, polish they are leading the way.

Graphics are all a matter of personal choice of course. Personally, I loathe "realistic" graphics and find that WoW has a "house style" that is particular to Blizzard. If that's not your cup of tea, that's fine. I have a pretty middle of the range PC and it suits me as the more grunt the graphics engine needs, the more I am going to be pissed by choppy performance, FPS problems, anti-aliasing problems etc.

Graphics, particularly as a style, is a tricky point to argue IMHO.

Right now I am waiting to see what the Star Wars game is going to be like, I like their philosophy and they are grasping that releasing a half done game with a view to fixing it later is no longer acceptable to people. The content must be engaging and the mechanics must be polished and working. I have seen a fair few MMOs with potential fail by thinking that it is 2005 and they can release half a game.

I've never played an MMO in my life and I doubt I ever will, but if I had to choose it would be LotRO.

The graphics on Wow put me off, plus I like LotR anyways, and know alot more about it that I do about the Warcraft universe.
