So I'm about to finish DXMD for the first time, and having played it, I feel like doing a particular challenge that I find somewhat fun. No guns. Pretty straightforward, I never use guns, period.

Now, here is my question, the thing I wanted to kind of litmus test about.

Would you consider the augmentations that included projectiles to be guns? The Tesla aug, the PEPS aug, and the blade thrower aug (though I dont plan on using that one just because I don't like it).

They have ammunition, and the shoot an object to accomplish their task. But, they are technically not a gun. I'm mostly thinking that they are indeed guns, falling into the "projectile thrower" category, but then I didn't really use them too much in my normal play, so I kind of want to play with them.

So what do you think? Should my No Guns run include the augs that shoot stuff? Or should they fall into the category of "guns" as well?

I'd go with not considering them guns. They run on relatively rare ammo (though the amount of crafting parts you will amass should keep you floating) and they require both that ammo and energy to fire. If you want to keep it a challenge go with only using the PEPS and not the Tesla or blades, as it is loud and will thus serve as a give away in what I assume is a sort of stealth run.

Would your no guns run also include the stun gun because yeah I could see the Aug Guns being guns in that scenario

No stun gun. Any of the guns that you can hotkey, that you can upgrade, Tranq rifle, stun gun, sniper, etc. They are all off limits. If I am going to take anyone out (assuming I don't count the augs as guns, hence the poll), it would be with close quarters attacks, or the Icarus Drop/Dash abilities that let me do a knockdown.

Probably yes, though I think a better challenge is one where you DON'T use anything augmented (including skills) and only stick to guns, you can call that "because I didn't ask for it".
Yeah but, the thing with that, is I really don't want to play it like that. A part of me wants to do the "guns blazing" kind of playthrough, especially since you can still do it all non-lethal if you want. But, I dunno, I just have more fun not doing the shoot them all approach in most games.

I haven't played Mankind Divided, so take this with a grain of salt, but it seems to me that if the goal is a move visceral, in-your-face approach, you should leave off the gun-esque augs. I mean, if you pick up objects and toss them to distract or incapacitate enemies, then your arms are projectile throwers. Any distinction made is ultimately going to be arbitrary, and while "arbitrary" doesn't mean "meaningless", it does mean that the classification is in your hands. What's your goal? Find that, and from there the best way to reach it.

If you got the preorder/dlc aug that lets you dismantle things and discount the crafting materials required to craft, you can easily end up with a surplus of tesla and nanoblade ammo. A single combat rifle nets you 50 crafting materials, and an 8 pack of tesla is 50 something. Granted not everybody has access to that aug.

Though in a gunless playthrough, you would have an absolute surplus of materials anyway. Sell all your guns and ammo, buy more materials

If you can fuel the Tesla, it is absolutely broken. Lock onto a bunch of dudes, zap done. Repeat. Repeat. Aiming? What is that?

I think in the end, an augless playthrough is more challenging than a gunless one. It's easy enough to load up on biocells and punch the living hell out of everything.
