Ladies and Gentlemen, young and old, this may seem an unusual procedure speaking to you before we begin but...

April 28, 2016, which is two months from now, shall mark the twenty-year anniversary of Genndy Tartakovsky's first hit television show for Cartoon Network (and his only show created for Hanna Barbera) about the classic misadventures of a loud, screeching little redheaded kid in a laboratory scientist's outfit and his stupid bean pole blonde headed older sister clad in a ballerina's tutu outfit.

The show in question is called Dexter's Laboratory.

Although the first Dexter's Lab short already aired a year earlier in February 1995, April 28, 1996 was the day that Dexter's Lab become a regular show on Cartoon Network.

And now, let us share memories, thoughts and especially your own honest and personal opinions on the show Dexter's Laboratory just to coincide with the 20th anniversary.

Anyone remember Dexter's Laboratory?

Dexter's Lab is still next to Venture Bros. as my all-time favorite cartoon.

Kind of insane that it's really been 20 years.

I remember in the late 90's it was all about Dexters Lab, Johnny Bravo, Cow & Chicken and their related spin-offs.
Used to subscribe to the Cartoon Network magazine and everything.

Dexters Lab still gets the occasional airing here in the UK on Boomerang I think.

Never really dug the premise. Oh look, Didi is destroying the lab again because she has no respect for other peoples property. Oh look Mandark is creepily obsessed over a girl he doesn't even know. Oh look, he's still in elementry school despite the fact he's somehow made a laboratory thats bigger on the inside then it is the outside. (EDIT: It doesn't help the premise has been played to death over the years... Fairly Godparents. Fucking Johnny Test directly ripped it off.)

It had elements I liked... Monkey. The superfriends... That episode where Macho Man Randy Savage appeared as Wrestle-Lord is one of my favs, even if it is a parody of that Fantastic Four comic.

I know a lot of people praise Gendy's work, and I won't deny he's talented, but nothing he's ever made has ever really wooed me. Samurai Jack as well is hit/miss with me, depending on the episode. Hotel Trannslyvania just looks like everything trying to irk me.

This comes off as a dick post brah, I'm sorry. He's just not my flavor ice cream. I feel like he keeps his work very safe, and I like my 'toons to have just a bit of an edge to them.

I bet you would have loved the episode when Dexter goes to college... (True story!)

OT: I loved the episodes when Dexter and Dee Dee switched bodies, switched rooms, and even the three-part crossover episode where the whole family and Monkey formed a giant robot... The movie, however, will always be my top favorite thing about Dexter's Laboratory because it is the one thing I can quote the most without referencing the music videos that Cartoon Network had for the series...
Other than that, remember when Dee Dee and her ballerina squad took out Dexter's giant robot? Or when Dee and Dexter had a snowball fight? Or when Dexter had to change one of the many lightbulbs that are used in his lab? Or when Dexter only learned one french phrase? Or when both Dexter's dad and Mandark's dad went head-to-head? Or when Dexter lead his own DnD campaign? Or when Dynomutt got an upgrade? Or when Monkey was on another planet? Or when Mom fought another mom for a pair of cleaning gloves? Or when...*trails off into the sunset*

I would vote for both Ego Trip and Classic Series.

Dexter is one of my favorite Childhood Cartoons because of how creative and action packed the episodes sometimes can get.

The best example is the episode where Dexter had to go to play Dodgeball and he got bullied, so he gets his revenge by making a Robot Mech with Dodgeball weapons and beat the crap out of the bullies.

That is Awesome.

Any of you guys ever see the banned episode? I'd link it here but it's a nightmare to find online.

I remember that episode, but it wasn't really "banned". I think for it to have been banned it needs to have aired at some point prior to the ban. It's more like it was just denied, I guess. They did eventually show it on Adult Swim years later.

The only legit "banned" episode (as in it aired at some point before it got pulled) was the Silver Surfer/Galactus parody episode of Monkey. Apparently people got upset because the Silver Surfer parody character was gay. Well, it was the 90's >.<

Wow, it's been 20 years? Man, I feel old... I still like this show, even the post-Ego Trip seasons. Yeah, I know but my tastes are kinda weird.

I enjoyed the hell out of it as a kid but in saying so there were many great Cartoon Network cartoons back then.

As with the poll, the original runs before the speical. By all means the special was great but after that, I hated the new animation style and it didn't help the fact that was also when they replace the VA to Dexter.

Oh any my favourite episode was that kaiju one.
