I have to admit they got me. As PS2 said don't bother with the Dreamcast, I've passed up on the PS4 Pro to wait for the Scorpio.

Now supposedly people are saying the extra power will not be relevant.

Course what the heck will I do if E3 says, wait till 11/2018 for PS5

Are these kind of increments of importance to you? I've got 1 65" 4K in the house and need but one console to really make use of it. I'm waiting on the Scorpio. Did you?

Nope.

The PS4 Pro did keep me from buying the PS4 though as I don't feel like I know enough about the differences to pull the trigger when I found the PS4 for cheap.

Nope. I have a PC, so the purchase of an Xbox, One or Scorpio, seems pretty redundant. And even then, there doesn't seem to be a single exclusive game worth buying. The only game I wanted was cancelled so... unless they start talking about some new and interesting games that are not Halo/Gears of War, I'm completely uninterested in the Scorpio.

As for the PS4 Pro. I've already got a PS4, the hell do I need the Pro for?

So you did end up getting a regular PS4, just delayed or got the Pro? What kind of TV is it on?

Mine is a luxury. With a regular PS4 on it, it looks very nice but so does the less powerful Xbox 1 on a 55" 1080p LED. I'm a graphics whore and would love to see if the Scorpio really makes a difference or not. According to the video, we are reaching the point of diminishing returns. I just saw another video that said you would need 200 Xbox consoles to equal the power of one XB1 and then showed Doom 3 and the new Doom side by side. The difference was easily notable but does it make that 200 to 1 journey that worth having done?

I have a gaming PCs too, none that are true 4K machines and I'd really like to see what it looks like (True 4K gaming on the 65" 4k tv... though it does not have HDR at under 2 years of age!) Course, I could save a ton of money if I had a friend who would buy it first! But nope, I'm the only true nut in my crew.

I delayed until I had the desire to actually read up on it. I currently have a regular HDTV but would likely get a 4K within a few years with how quickly they're dropping in price (hence my hesitation on getting a regular PS4...)

You aren't kidding about that price drop. I could get mine, with HDR for 1/2 what I paid for it 2 years ago. Hope you get the chance to spoil yourself soon.

I have zero interest in Xbox exclusives so even if it was ten times as powerful as the ps4 and brewed you coffee I still wouldn't actually ever want one.

I don't have good enough eyesight to tell the difference between current graphics and 4K, so those diminishing returns have already hit me. That said, I doubt I'd get one anyway even if I could tell the difference since... well, everything looks perfectly fine on a 5 year old TV to begin with. I'm fine with graphics improving over time (i.e. Doom to new DOOM), but the constant chase of the cutting edge is a bit... much. Especially considering that now that 4K TVs don't cost 3000+ dollars I'm already hearing rumblings about '8K' screens...

The journey was worth it, but maybe chill the fuck out a little here guys, jesus, people can only buy so much tech crap in a year.

No, the fact that I had just bought a PS4 less than a year before hand stopped me buying a PS4 Pro. Plus I don't have a 4K TV so that makes the Pro pretty much pointless to me.

Plus I have really limited time to play games so another console at this point seems like a waste of time so I won't be buying a Scorpio.

I seriously had zero idea what Scorpio in this context even meant before I read your post.

No. Bloodborne runs just fine on the PS4, and I've got a gaming PC now. I see no possible reality in which I'd buy a console I bought just 2,5 years ago again just to supposedly run games a bit better. And apparently you need a 4K Tv to make the most of it anyway, so I'd have to buy a new TV as well. That's already the price of a beastly gaming rig.

I haven't watched the video, so I don't know what arguments it brings to the table. But, looking at history, I'd say that being the most powerful console is indeed arguably not relevant, because so far it hasn't guaranteed the 'win' of its respective generation (not counting the current gen, since it's not over and done yet). I have no reason to believe Scorpio will definitely buck this trend.

Anyway, while I haven't purchased either yet, on a personal level Scorpio would not prevent me from buying a PS4 Pro for two reasons:
[li]PS4 simply has the much larger number of exclusives I'm interested in, whereas I can count the Microsoft ones on one hand. Also...[/li]
[li]I have a beefy gaming PC, so I can get a fair number of those Microsoft exclusives that way. And run them better too.[/li]
When it comes to consoles, games matter way more than power and, for my personal tastes, Microsoft is losing that numbers game.

Well, my dying PS4 motivated me to buy a new console and I'd have to buy all my games again if I switched over the xBox, so no.

It's the lack of money kept me from buying a PS4Pro. LOL

But even if I had the money, I would still get the PS4Pro.

Why?

- PS4 has the games I want.

- I dislike MS more than Sony. I still remember the "timed exclusive" crap they pulled during the 360 era. They pretty much paid developers to delay the PS3 release - it got so bad that Sony struck back with a "If you release later on the PS3, we demand extra features or you don't release at all." clause.

BTW, they aren't funding/supporting games we would otherwise never have when they did that. Those games they paid for timed exclusivity were mostly surefire hits. They pretty much paid to hurt their competitor.

Microsoft really is a case of a leopard never changing it's spots - I have read about their behavior in the 80s, observed their behavior in the 90s; CEOs have come and gone but the company culture remains the same.

Xbox is terrible. I'm surprised it became so big since 2000 with barely any likable exclusives. I also dislike the big emphasis on shooters. I'd rather play them with a mouse.
The original Xbox actually had some good stuff like Ninja Gaiden or Otogi. They just went downhill during the latter half of the 360's life and kept tumbling and tumbling. They decided to turn into a shooter system, and now with pc and ps4 it basically is a halo and need for speed system, which is even worse than nintendo since they do have other third party stuff too that is exclusive outside of Zelda and Mario and Pokemon.

The lack of interest in a PS4 Pro kept me from getting a PS4 Pro. I'm going to get slightly better graphics on my console if I buy this new version of the one I have?
Please, if I want that I'll upgrade my PC.
'But PSVR!'
VR headsets really don't interest me. I can't stand and game and the ones where it's just strapping a screen to your face feels very limiting in regards to genre.
My MGSV PS4 will do me fine thanks.
... Not that I'm a Sony fanboy, I mostly use my PC, PS4 is for games I can't run yet or just exclusives.

As for Xbox? Never got one, the exclusives never interested me, I can now play their games on my PC (if I get Windows 10) and I prefer the Playstation controllers.

True enough. And this all while trying to keep up with PC hardware growth too.

I will very likely skip 8K, even though I'm a loon. I'm not THAT crazy. It is coming. But I'd think, even once there is media for it, you'd need at least an 85" and sit 6' from it to really note a difference. I don't even have room for that in my house. The wife would kill me.

And there are ways to use a PS4 controller on your PC. I do prefer the XB controller myself though. The feel of it, and I believe the triggers are analog while PS4 digital. This matters in racing games like Forza.
At this time, the Box has no exclusives that match Uncharted. Not even Tomb Raider, which I have for PC but can now get for PS4. I do hope they catch up in that (exclusives) department. Hoping Crackdown 3 is great.

I wouldn't even consider a new console without 4K TV. What kind of monitor are you using for the PC? I use a 39" LED 1080P TV but if I ever do get a $500 4K ready card, I'll likely have to upgrade that to make true use of it.

The fact that I had a PS4 already and I don't have a 4K TV, ept me from buying a PS4Pro.

I have zero confidence that the Scorpio will be anything at all. Xbone is dogshit. And it would take a fucking miracle game exclusive to make me even look in the Scorpio's general direction, let alone consider the thing.

Microsoft is fucking up their console market. Especially when they let me play the "exclusive" Xbone games, on my WAY more powerful gaming PC.

Nope. But I'm not interested in PS4 Pro either (at least for now).
