Just saw the 2 gameplay vids for ME3, and it suddenly begins to dawn on me how much i'm screwed for keeping the collector base.

I really thought that the base would tilt the odds in the human favor during ME3, but I guess being a Renegade doesn't mean you are a utilitarian, It means you are a dumbass.

What did you choose and why?

I chose to destroy it as I saw this coming. Some renegade options are going to screw them over in ME3, and I'll bet that some Paragon ones are too. Thats why I called them as they came, picked whichever I thought provided a good advantage/risk ratio and completely ignored my squadmate's advice (considering they would always have one agree, and one disagree)

Keeping a giant relic from species that are slaves to giant Ancient AI are not exactly smart. So no i blew it up, also did it just give illusive man the finger.

*SPOILERS WARNING*

Have a save both ways. Three in fact. Female paragon destroyed, male paragon destroyed, male renegade saved. Will probably have a fourth by the time ME3 comes out, I'm almost but not quite ready for another replay. Might do one whole ME1->2->3 when it's closer to release...hmmm.

Why? To roleplay thru the game in different ways, good and evil, male and female, different romances, squads, powers choices, etc. Although I should admit I pretty much went vanguard every time. Biotic charge is just too cool for school :) My female shep is a noble hero, male paragon is basically chaotic good and renegade was snarky, sarcastic and took s**t from no one.

And next year for ME3 I'll have my saves ready to go to replay ME3 with different combinations of base saved, base destroyed, stayed faithful to Liara, romanced Tali, killed Ashley/kaiden/wrex, save council, let them die, etc.

Well I wanted to save it and hand it over to he Council as proof of the Reaper threat, but that would have broken the game apparently.

I destroyed it, even though I hated Miranda and keeping it would have been punching her in the face. But really, it just didn't seem right to keep. Seemed like a bit of a risk that could come back to bite me in the ass. Also, I still thought of Garrus and his pesky calibrations.

saved it. thought it might have been useful in combating the reapers, but from what it sounds like (haven't seen the gameplay vids yet) it sounds like I shouldn't have done that.

During my first playthrough I did whatever was the "good" option just because I'm a good guy and I don't like seeing my darkside, er... Renegade meter filling up. During my SECOND and probably final playthrough so that everyone would end the game still alive, I decided to keep the collector base because I figured "Well, what could it hurt? We might at least be able to gain some useful knowledge out of it." Then I went around my ship and EVERY SINGLE FUCKER ON THAT SHIP was telling me "I trust you, but I'm not so sure what you did was right." And now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have... I haven't seen those videos of ME3, but from what you're saying, I'm now feeling like I've made a terrible decision, and would probably go back to a save somewhere before the very end because I had like 4 saves that playthrough, but I REALLY don't want to have to finish the game AGAIN, and re-do all of the DLC.

Nope, because I always find myself taking the Paragon route in Mass Effect games, no matter what I do.

I chose to destroy it immediately. Not because "NU THIS IS A BAD PLACE WHERE BAD THINGS HAPPENED" or whatever bullshit BioWare wrote. I hate Cerberus, and I expected The Illusive Man to betray me as soon as I outlived my usefulness to him. I'm not letting any powerful tech even pass through his hands.

No, for this reason:

The Illusive Man annoys me, so I thought naaahhh. Plus, I didn't see what good could come of it.

I love how your actions affect the following games. Wondering if having freaky disease sex with Tali will have any consequences...

On my first playthrough Kelly died, but on this one (I'm on the last boss) no one has, so hopefully it will stay that way!

Have you seen the illusive mans face after you save it? You couldn't get more ominously evil, even if you asked for a tonne of kittens, a few boxes and some neurotoxin....

OT: I destroyed it first time, even though I thought it would be useful in fighting the Reapers, but too dangerous to keep in case it fell into the wrong hands... *cough*Cerberus*cough*

First time I did save it. It seemed like the practical thing to do at the time. That was the play through where I lost half my crew. And everyone on the ship was telling me they didn't think it was a good thing that I didn't destroy it. Quite frankly, it had been a long time since I played the original, I did not remember much about Cerberus at all, and I'm a gullible and trusting sap.

I voted "I wanted to but Tali kept giving telling me it was a bad idea". But it wasn't just Tali. It was fucking everybody. The poll says that Miranda wanted to save the base. Is that true? Because that's not what I remember. I thought that even the Renegade people on my crew were in favor of blowing it up.
I thought that was completely retarded, but I did it anyway because of peer pressure and the fact that I wanted to remain Paragon in the eyes of the game.

I think that it's the opposite. That if you kept the collector base then you now have an advantage against the reapers, if you can get it off cerberus that is.

Well this is what I hope at least as right now it seems that if you were renegade then basicly you've fucked up everything and paragon is basicaly the only way to do it well.

I kept it, expecting it to be helpful. Unfortunately Bioware has now revealed that it was the wrong choice and now I have to re-play the game.
