Disliked the film, enjoyed the book. Snyder missed the point of making an adaptation when he had a scene for scene recreation of the comic book. You have to tweak and adjust things for a movie, not just slap it on screen as if Moore was writing storyboard. Otherwise, what's the point?

Quite possibly the greatest movie I have ever seen. I have yet to get my hands on the graphic novel.

Loved the film, but never read the book, might get round to it sometime...

But yeah, I thought the film was spectacular, it exceeded my expectations.

Both were pretty good - I enjoyed both the film and the graphic novel.

I've only read the comic, which is pretty good, but critical consensus seems to be that the film is ok, but not on-par with the graphic novel.

I heard the soundtrack for the film is all over the place, and not in a good way.

I respectfully disagree, while he did follow the main plot mostly word for word, he did drop alot of minor characters and alot of the under arching sub-plots. He did adapt quit a bit of it also, most of it was dumbing down the diolouge granted, but it was done as to make it accessable to the general public.

All in all I really loved the movie, asides from Dark Knight its easilly the best comic addaptation on screen. If you've not seen it yet then please do go, have your perceptions on right and wrong. Read the book first though, because you'll get a much better feel for the plot.

movie was good but you could never compare it to the book. The book changed the whole graphic novel genre. In my opinion the movie does a good job covering the main points but it lacks the subtly of the book which gives the story much more meaning and lets you better understand the characters. Both are good but the true story lies in the book. I would recommend this movie as an introduction to the story and would encourage anyone to read it.

The book is genius, an incredible bit of literature.

The movie was the book with the violence and sex turned up, a shitty ending and a few bad actors thrown in.

It wasn't terrible. The part with Dr Manhattan on mars was done better than the book I thought. But...It was just too over the top, to simplified and had way too much slow mo and gore. And that sex scene...seriously? That was just about the most unintentionally hilarious moments in a film I have ever seen. If theres a porn version of the Watchmen floating about on the internet (I don't doubt there is)they won't have changed that scene much.

The bets thing that could be said about it a lot of fans of the comic would be caught up saying "look look look! That exactly like the scene in the comic!" But a movie shouldn't need a book to stand up on it's own. Zack Snyder only changed scenes if he could add a bit more blood and flesh. It was laughable. It was like someone had said "You know what would make Shindlers List better? More whores!" He changed scenes that should have been left well enough alone, yet complete left out other which, while not vital to the main plot, where some of the best scenes in the book.

There where points of it that where speculator, others that where just plain terrible. Maybe if I hadn't read the book I would of liked it more. It certainly breaks the mold in terms of superhero movies, not so much for comics that have seen this kind of stuff happening to superheroes for just under 30 years now.

The movie was great but I never read the novel, and am not interested enough to ever do it.

No worries, I think it's one of the films that your relationship with the book will affect how you liked the movie. I ranted on these forums for a while when someone asked why people who have read 'V for Vendetta' get pissy about the film.

For the record though, Snyder has said that on the Director's Cut DVD all of that stuff he dropped from the book is going back in so that it will be almost a scene for scene recreation.

The book is quite possibly one of the greatest books I have ever had the pleasure of reading, and I thought the movie was decent enough. The ending was fucked up, but I thought the movie as a whole was pretty well done.

Really want to see and read it. Like a fool I turned down a friend's offer to borrow Watchmen a few years ago. Now I sorely regret that, especially after seeing the price in most UK bookstores... :(. I Definitely want to see it and read it soon...
