When you open up a thread, do you read the whole OP? If you do that do you listen to any requests the poster makes? Do you read any of the other posts in the thread to make sure you're not just repeating something that's already been said before?

A couple of weeks ago, I started my Which Games Do QTEs Right [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.217755-Which-Games-Do-QTEs-Right] thread, and in it I asked people politely not to trot out God of War as an example, yet, at time of writing, seven out of twenty-six replies came out praising GoW. Over a quarter of the people who felt the urge to respond to a post didn't feel it necessary to abide by a request. Sure, it was only a request, but not an outlandish one, right? Is it just me, or is this a problem?

God of War!

Am... yeah I do try to read all of the OP. If I don't read the full thing then I generally don't comment because I don't find it interesting.

I read most of the first page minimum. And I usually follow whatever set-up the OP has. If I don't read the OP, it's because I just back out of the page from lack of interest.

Yes I read the whole OP unless it's something very long and I lose interest. I also generally read every post before making my own. I find it interesting.

No it wasn't outlandish, but a lot of times people don't read the OP, going by the title, or only read it part way through. It's not really a problem it's just laziness.

I only take the thread as serious as the title warrants. If I don't like your title, my reply will be more snide.

If it's a "stupid" thread, I ignore any requests made in the OP as the poster clearly doesn't actually care about what they've written, why should I?

In most topics though, I tend to be as polite as possible and get the gist of a topic before posting.

Yeah! Books are awesome!

Nah, I'm kidding, this thread's about graphs right?

No no no.

Yes, I read your opening post, I read opening posts and I oblige the OP's requests.

ALSO: I read it until I disagree with something THEN I TYPE! IN! CAPITALS! LIKE! THIS!.

I read OPs to avoid making a complete arse of myself. Oh, and I've had that whole "I say 'Dont say X' and then loads of people say X" thing happen to me lots of times. I once started a thread about anywhere I could get actual sheet music on the internet and asked people not to say "Just read tab", but, lo and behold, about 10 of the 12 replies said "I DUNNO BUT HERE'S A GOOD TAB SITE: [insert]". It's completely ridiculous the amount of people who: A - Don't read the OP or B - Think they're being clever by saying what you directly asked (or told) them not to say.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

If the topic itself is very straight forward, I typically will only read a bit.

Like this one, I only noticed it wasn't about reading books until I saw one of the posts before me.

I always read the opening post unless its a wall of text, I sometimes read the other responses but not always, especially if its a very long thread and to be frank I often just want to respond personally to the OP regardless of what anyone else has said.

I read as much as I have time to. Usually that means all of the thread, but some times just the first page.

Yeah, I'll skim a little bit of the other posts, but for the most part threads around here have so many responses that it just isn't possible unless I have tons of time to kill.

I read, well i try to unless there is mount doom in text format. I will also read some of the other posters thoughts. It depends onthe post and how many times I have seen it?

But I must ask, are you angry about this issue OP? Do not hold on to that anger it will lead you to the darkside and then a whiny little girl named luke will have to kill you.

I always read the OP (unless it's a WALL OF TEXT, at which point I skim), and I read a good amount of posts before I comment.
