the question is simple: do you believe in any kind of superstition?

I used to: when I was younger, I didn't step on cracks in the sidewalk cuz of that whole "step on a crack, you'll break your mother's back" thing. and I still don't like Friday the 13th. I still walk under ladders (people are on them, lol) and I have never spilled any salt.

Well, do you?

Generally speaking, no. Some superstitions however are simply good advice taken to an unsettling extreme. It isn't bad luck to walk under a ladder but you will be placing yourself at a higher risk of injury or death (generally) if you choose to do so.

No superstitions are illogical and irrational beliefs that seem to defy the established laws of cause and effect.

Although if we ever proved that luck was a real force, I wouldn't discount the idea of superstition entirely...

I believe that superstition exists, yes. Do I ascribe to it or pay it any mind? No.

i doubt throwing salt over your shoulder is good luck for the guy behind you. salt+eyes=pain :)

superstitions are just people trying to explain something they dont understand or they are trying to scare people into doing the right thing. like you should be careful around mirrors and dont break them. Dont walk under a ladder you could knock it and make people fall. dont step on cracks you might twist your ankle. dont let a black cat cross you path caus cats are evil. throw salt over your shoulder so the table is clean.

Not really but if late at night I hear a creak in my house or some unexplained noise I do tend to get a little nagging sensation in the back of my head saying "Ghosts could be real..."

I don't really believe in all the big things, the step on a crack thing makes no sense and not walking under a ladder's just common sense. A black cat's not unlucky unless he goes for your face and spilling salt's just means it's unfortunate that you now have salt all over the table.

That said, I do have my own little ones. For example, I have unlucky socks that I only wear on days I'm not doing anything. Yeah, it's just coincidence, but something bad always happens when I wear them out and about.
But now I ripped 'em by accident, so I'm free of the curse! Huzzah!

Well, yes and no.

I don't give any thought to stepping on a crack or walking under a ladder, but I do have my own personal superstitions, like not walking on grass when it rains because I'll always, ALWAYS step in dogcrap.

Damn, you said it before I could. It should have been worded 'are you superstitious?'.

I think we make our own luck so it's only unlucky if we think it is and lucky if we think it is. Superstition is okay so long as doesn't impede upon other people or go into some kind of never-leave the house type of thing.

I believe some superstitions are a load of rubbish; black cats for instance and spilling the salt

Not walking under ladders makes the most sense out of all them if you ask me

no i don't, it's all a load of claptrap. i wouldn't walk under a ladder in case something falls on me, not because it's unlucky....though something dropping on me would be unlucky

I recently read that Romanian villagers used to believe a child conceived on Easter or Christmas Eve would become a werewolf. Now the question is, whether that is a thing to avoid or to aim for.
