I remember that when I was young, I always used to use the cheats for every game. I would exploit the infinite ammo, the invincibility and the outrageous wealth that i could get at the simple input of a few buttons.

In the last few years however, I find it is much more satisfying to actually play the games and endure their challenges on the hardest mode I can handle.

Your thoughts/experiences?

I just cheat when I'm bored or if I've completed the game just to mess around.

I used to do it all the time because I was very lazy.
Nowadays I cheat on the Age Of series if I want a laugh and other games if I've beaten them.

I used to cheat on just about anything. Now that I play 360 more than PC, and most 360 games don't support cheats (or they disable achievements if they do), I don't do it any more...

I only cheat when I have beaten the game, and are bored. This can turn an okay afternoon into a great one with the right cheats.

When I was younger however, I would cheat all the time, mostly in GTA, because that was more entertaining than the game for me.

I'm very similar to you. When I was young I cheated in every game, now I prefer the suspense of actually being vulnerable and the reward of shooting some guy in the head instead of spraying infinate bullets everywhere.

I'll still cheat if I want to get rid of stress by blowing limbs off with a shotgun though.

both when I get bored or when it gets hard. Generally speaking I don't cheat unless I'm really desperate though - it leaves a hollow feeling inside.

There isn't a "only when I completed the game" option... I'd be under that. I don't cheat to beat the game, unless looking in a FAQ counts...

I only use cheats if I'm bored and feel like futzing around, or there is one bit of a game that I hate and do not feel like playing fairly. This is only if I can bothered going back upstairs, kicking my brother off the PC and looking up the cheats. Which I usually can't.

I never cheat when playing online. It's just unsporting and the games I play online are games I play a lot anyway, so I'm generally good enough to win anyway. I merely play games that I'm good at and practice on the ones I'm bad at before playing against others. However, offline is a different matter. I'll use walkthroughs only when badly stuck or when I already know how to do something but want to find a quicker way of doing it. I don't generally cheat unless extremely stuck, but if I've played a game over and again and I'm bored then I'll use cheats for the fun of it. With a few rare exceptions, of course.

Aptly given the topic, I was playing Kingdom Hearts yesterday and was fighting Captain Hook in Neverland. Lost first time, second time I tried this weird glitch happened and he just stayed where he was, not attacking, but spinning in a ball constantly. I just kept attacking and won with no health lost or anything. Really weird, but if a glitch comes along I'm not one to complain. Unless it's bad. Of course.

I cheat in sandbox and FPS games if I like the story more than the gameplay, or if I just want to goof off. I'll complete RPGs without cheats and go through them the next time with cheats so I can get the story again, but condensed.

Example: I didn't cheat Saints Row 2 but then the gameplay is a lot of fun. If I ever get around to playing The Darkness I'd cheat the hell out of it because, so my brother tells me, the story is good but the gameplay sucks.

Alternately, I'll exploit what's already there. The Foppies in Earthbound make a great powerleveling source, as does the flower pipe in Super Paper Mario with Bowser.

while i hate to admit it i have been known to slam the tild key in frustration on occasion.
but usually only after the fiftieth bloody bastard time i die.
i more often look up walkthroughs for sandbox games and browse the titles, just to get a solid idea of all the missions and stuff i can do in the game.

Only when I get bored.

Only in shooters.

Only with god mode and infinite bullets and "noclip".

And then, I kill them by the truckloads. When I'm bored, of course. Otherwise, no.
