It is first-person and you shoot stuff with guns but it also features a character creator and most of the elements commonly associated with RPGs, so do you?

I consider it firmly an RPG. That said, here's some blasphemy: I didn't think Fallout's ending was very good. I'm not going to spoil anything here, but I was definitely underwhelmed. I also regret not finishing all the sidequests I would liked to have done, but I guess that'll change when they release the 360 dlc.

Both games have big, big flaws, and lots and lots of greatness, but I think Oblivion was better.

It's an RPG because Headshots aren't instakills, why? Because the enemies have HP. Also weapons deal more damage with higher skills, it would be more apparent if they didn't have level scaling.

first off the poll is not a yes or no question. and second it is an FPS with RPG aspects

... Both?

Though it leans a lot more to the RPG side, with skills, armour and all that. If all of that were stripped out it'd be a bit of a bare-bones FPS.

Also, confusing poll. You ask "which is it more," but then give "yes" and "no" as choices.

Well, lets see:

FPS point-and-shoot 3D gameplay? Check.
RPG mechanic underlay? Check.

Yup, it's a FPS/RPG. Stop being thick.

Hit yes when I wanted to hit no. Oh well.

My reasoning is that the real time combat is very unpolished in favor of VATS. It is really just an RPG. I did not feel the FPS aspect because even in real time, your accuracy appears altered by RPG percentages.

Its both...Just because headshots don't mean instakill its still a FPS. First Person Shooter, *plays in first person and shoots stuff* Okay, theres that. Role Playing Game, *chats with one of the locals and adjusts Stats and clothing* yup, looks like an FPS/RPG hybrid.

That discribes Bioshock more than Fallout 3.

Fallout 3 has just as much RPG in it as FPS, levels, skills, choice, why do you see it as only having aspects?

So... there can only be one FPS with RPG elements?

Still, this poll is idiotic. There's no suggestion that Fallout 3 is anything but an FPS/RPG. You might as well ask "Is soccer a ball sport?" Gee, I wonder.

Since I play most of the game in *third person*, I would hardly consider it a "first person" anything.

RPG with fps elements.
ditto to what Codgo has already said.
The combat is clunky at best. It is all about those slow motion nade kills.

When did I say that?

The inference is that because the term describes another game more closely than Fallout 3, it's not a suitable term for Fallout 3. In reality, it can easily describe both.

It's an RPG with FPS aspects. The entire combat system is more dependant on skill levels and gear than on pointing the gun just right, and the combat is the only FPSish part of it.

Actually, it's an FPRPG :)
