I just tried to cook one of the more complicated items I have ever attempted to make...

"Tippy2K2's super awesome delicious cake of greatness!" (more commonly referred to as "Better than sex" [http://allrecipes.com/recipe/better-than-sex-cake-ii/] cake)

For obvious reasons, this is probably the proudest I have ever been in my life ever. I have the ability to cook but it's rare that I cook something that actually has a recipe to it (even a simple recipe like the one linked). Being a single guy, it's hard to actually cook without having enough extras to feed the office the next day but I do enjoy cooking when I am called upon.

So I'm curious: What are you culinary talents? What is the most complicated/tastiest thing you can make? Do you deserve your own cooking show because you're so damn talented or did you start a fire making cereal this morning?

Also, for those that want to learn:

Yes... I do... no baking, though, unfortunately. The family's baker is my sister.

I'm good at most cuisines... just not Chinese, which is rather depressing seeing as I'm Chinese and love Chinese food... :/

I make a damn good grilled cheese sandwich.

I can also make chocolate creme pie. My family gets upset if I don't make it every year for Thanksgiving.

I can cook and I'm somewhat competent (I don't burn cereal, I can do more than fried eggs but I'm not a restaurant class chef, either) but I don't do it that often. Proper cooking is just time consuming and a bit annoying. Most of the time, I just throw something together quickly, maybe put it in the oven or something. I just find it annoying to cook low quantities of food (one meal for myself)...unless I'm making several meals in advance...which is also something I find a bit annoying.

In the words of Robert Rodriguez; "Not knowing how to cook is like not knowing how to fuck".

So, yes, I can cook. Well.

I'm still taking baby steps into cooking. I have yet to attempt making dinner, but I'm getting pretty damn good at making breakfasts. Today I made kippers and poached eggs on toast with a side of beans, and it was glorious.

...you baked cookies ON the barbecue ? As in...you set the dough on the BBQ rack and made cookies? How...wha...uh...that doesn't seem like it should be possible. Did you place the cookie sheet on the rack? You must have....right?

Otherwise...

You HAD to have used a cookie sheet, right? How would they stay together otherwise...?

Does it still count cooking when you dad left you some premade cooked stuff like meat?

Sure I can make my own fried rice or the basic meal but when it come to seasoning the meat then it is foreign to me.

I am surprisingly good at cooking. The other day I eyeballed a banana nut bread recipe and performed on-the-fly modifications despite having never made it before. I am the official cook for the family during gatherings or holidays. I am still surprised every single time I cook something and it's not a disaster. Every single time I cook something nice, I am still more or less shocked it turned out edible. But apparently I am a decent cook. Must be the biochemistry degree.

I love cooking, mainly italian things but I did make a 1.5lb hamburger before. Thing is though, I have good days and bad days. A bad day is when I put a pot of water on the stove, turned up the heat, and went to bed. When I woke up there was no more water in the pot and it was stuck to the burner.

Can I cook?

I'm in res right now so all I have is a shitty electric skillet and a toaster oven. My future roommates walked into the communal kitchen our section has and based on the smell alone, they made me the cook for next year. When I went grocery shopping and had to pick up a baking pan, an older woman (who is experienced in the kitchen; we had a small conversation) told me my ideas were, "very impressive" and that "she would try them".

If my next year of university doesn't go well, I'm going to cooking college. I'm quite impressive.

Now, I need to find a pin and pop my ego.

I can cook really well for myself, but I don't know how other people would take to it.

Although I did try cooking for an ex a couple of times and she seemed pretty impressed.

The first ingredient is "cake mix", why not just cut the middle man and buy a cake then add the other ingredients. (this is meant to come across in a jokey way).

I can make 2 things confidently, spag bol and chicken curry rice ... both of which I make using store bought sauces. If I put my mind to it I can probably make a lot of stuff but I have never really tried.

Tried making an apple pie once, pastry was kinda gooey and there was apple juices running around the bottom of the foil pie tin but I ate it all with no ill effects.

Never really tried, to be honest. However, it is a skill that is very valuable to learn, and I'm working towards mastering it slowly but surely. As it stands I can make a darn good pot of chili or shepherd's pie, and I'm hoping to get into baking soon.

Dates, I cut them.

And that's as far as my cooking 'talents' go.
