My teacher made a deal to my class that if we came back to him when we're 30 years old and we do not miss high school and/or college, he would take us out to dinner for free. Which makes me wonder does anyone here that is over 30 years old, miss going to school?

In some respects, I do miss high school. I miss how easy it was, and I miss gym class. University has more freedom and I'm actually doing work for something I enjoy, but high school did have some good aspects that I miss.

I do miss high school a lot, my particular school wasn't all that big so everyone knew each other, it was a really comfortable environment to be in overall. Now I'm in college and boy, is it a big change! Nothing lasts forever though, I guess.

I miss college the most, best 4 years of my life (no I did not party every day/weekend). I had fun in high school I will admit and I miss it a little, but I dont miss the drama

I miss how easy it was and having a bit of free time with friends, but that is literally all I will ever miss about school and university (haven't completely graduated my degree yet). I'm much happier working & not having the stress of exams or anything like that hanging over me.

Hated school.

Was bullied to a crazy degree. College although not as harsh still had idiots.

I don't miss either

I pray to god you dont have to work for boss who is an idiot whose company decisions send you into a state of rage. Work is much more stressful than college or high school was for me. The stress in school/college was the good kind of stress, hard work but you know that it is for a good cause.

Work stress makes you want to burn the planet to stop the rampant stupidity.

Hmm. High school was ok, college was better. I miss the continual barrage of new things, switching to a new subject every couple hours, no routine lasting more than six months. Back when six months seemed like it might be a long time. And that's the time period where memories really burn themselves into your brain. You will remember your late teens and early twenties better than any other period of your life, right up until the day you die.

I don't miss not having money, though. I lived on like eight grand a year in college. Even with dollar-per-gallon gasoline and splitting rent with three roommates, can't imagine how I managed that.

Yes a to a certain degrees. I used to have reccuring dreams where I was still in High School which I interpreted it as missing the simple purposes of going to school to be educated (this was when I was unemployed and have no outlook of a career, I don't have those dreams anymore now that I'm working).

I suppose I prefer my time in University the most despite I didn't exactly enjoyed my course (hard work and the tutor was awful) since I had more of a life back then (living on my own and hanging out with my Uni mates).

Sure the High school I went to was fine but when it come to the social aspect of it, I was unhappy (I didn't get bully but people did treated me differently). Even then I wouldn't dare go back to it now mainly because I left a piece of my artwork on the wall as one of my art course which looking back on it now is really embrassing to look at it.

My life may have been simpler in some ways when I was in high school, but I really don't miss those days. I had only one friend, no social life in school or outside of it. I hated the band, hated my classes, and was shy and afraid of everyone around me after years of being picked on, urgh. College was a little better, but the only thing that I prefer about my life then over now is that I didn't have to live in Texas and I wasn't so far from my family.

I really missed out on the opportunity to have those be my best years, so I prefer to focus on making my future better. Sure, I have some very fond memories, but it's really not something I would like to re-live. Oh yeah, and I'm 30.

High school? Fuck no!

That place was like a Mad Max scenario, and I was a frightened little rabbit. And I didn't even get the full brunt of the bullying that others did.

I miss High School and College for different reasons, but I'm not so sure I'd really want to go back and live that time of my life for more than a few days. I am more consistently stressed out/paranoid now than I was in school, but I'm building my future and still have a lot to look forward to.

I'm only 21 but I definitely do not miss it, not even a little bit.

I wonder if you forget how awful being a teenager is as you get older? Like women forgetting the pain of giving birth.

Fuck no. What kind of question is this?

Once you're out in the world and have a job, no matter if it's working in an office or a goddamn chair factory, the social dynamic that made up high school is always there. You will never escape it.

So, if you're still in high school now, you get to look forward to the same bullshit for the rest of your life.

Only a few years left until the 30s and I do not miss either to be honest. I spent high school and college studying hard and stuff, then the recession happened so I do not quite have the life that I want but that is okay. I would rather struggle through now and find a career I am happy with then go back.

Oh yeah, I forgot, high-school never ends. So so so true. I had some people make fun of my clothes the other day (married people in their 30s) and I said to them, "tahnk you for making me feel young again".

But you are right, you are so right, high school never ends, some people never grow up and then they become your boss. Brilliant!

I miss the unbridled potential of high school and college, I dont miss the actual places. I also miss the whimsy of youth, for example my undergraduate students were complaining to me about the food in their dorm. That's right, they had an issue with buffet style food with a myriad of options that is both cooked and cleaned up for them every single meal. I get to go home maybe at 8 or 9 tonight and hopefully eat a bowl of cereal. I miss the time in my life the most serious issue I had was a damn test and whether or not we had Cocoa Puffs for breakfast.

I miss some great teachers from high school I really liked. But seeing as my class was almost exclusively filled with bitchy teenage females, some of which I even had to light their bunsen burners for because they wouldn't dare it themselves, I don't miss much and I certainly wouldn't go back. Alright, maybe I would but only for a laugh. Like busting that completely incompetent wikipedia printing biology teacher's ass with a BSc in microbiology.

But now that I'm between uni semesters for another two weeks I actually miss it because I enjoy it.

If you don't miss school when you're 30 you're unlikely going to want to go back and have dinner with your old teacher.

Pretty good deal to make for the teacher.

No, I made a vow to not miss high school. I intend to honour it.

I'm with you here - it's not really "high school" that I'd remember more fondly, it's that timeframe of my life. Actual high school sucked giant balls.
