Just to clarify, it doesn't matter if it's a horror game or not, thats not the point.

I just want to know, when it gets to be dark outside, do you turn on you lights or keep them off.

I personaly keep them on, my eyes start to hurt after hours of flashing lights.

At night: Yes. Daytime: No.

Unless it's a horror game, in which case, no for each.

There is quite literally a thread exactly like this one going on right now. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.128353]

And to answer you're question, it depends on the game. I can't play Gears of War with the lights on, but I can play Halo 3 whilst sitting next to a Christmas tree!

It really depends. I like being able to play with the lights off, because it reduces glare and in the case of games like the DS with their own backlighting, that's pretty important. However, the old GBA and GB games of yesteryear definitely required lights being on. In fact, sometimes it required me to either crunch up next to a lamp, or have the stupidly bright cieling light on in the living room. It was annoying.

However, keyboard related games I will occasionally have to leave the light on for because you can't always see the keyboard right and it leads to less accurate/responsive timing on my part because I need to stop and find the key in the darkness.

So yeah, I typically like having the light off, but will leave it on in certain circumstances.

Sometimes I turn the lights off for a game I'm familiar with so I can get a better picture, but otherwise I leave them on so if I kick over the furniture on accident, I can see it.
