Do you think PeTA realizes that humans ARE animals?

seriously, humans are living organisms. we are not plants, viruses, bacteria, minerals, insects, arachnids, fungi, protozoa, WE ARE ANIMALS.

specifically mammals, primates, of the species homo-sapien. we are also omnivores, we are supposed to naturally have meat in our diet, this is why we have canine and incisors for meat, and molars for grinding plants.

Are they really this thick as to not see this? yes, we may be the dominate species, but we are still animals, and this won't change anytime soon, if ever.

EDIT: anyone here for the creation of ALTA? Animals for Logical treatment of Animals?

Don't worry about PETA, by their doctrine, humans are the lowest animal on the food chain. Thus they will be eaten soon enough.

The food chain:

Normal People -> Animals -> Plants -> PETA

This has always been my biggest gripe with PETA; they have no problem with animals killing other animals for sustenance but think humans eating meat is a deadly sin.

Yes. Its just that they're massive hypocrites and far too prone to knee jerk responses.

The PETA approach seems to be: "A human is doing something to an animal? You fucking monster"

Regardless of what that something is.

Or if there is a real animal involved. Or if its an analogy of an animal. Or if its a video game depiction of an animal. Or if its a painting on a wall. Or if its an excerpt from a book. Or if its completely natural. Or if its culturally significant.

All this argument does is give credence to PETAS' stance.

If we are animals, then we are on the same level as all the other creatures. And therefore, as the logical beings that we are, claiming we have rights and such, who are we to do what we do to animals? Who are we to give rights to some, but not others?

/whew

Its a good thing I'm among the vast majority of people in the world thinks people aren't animals.

And before anyone says anything. Blah blah blah, science science science, therefore I cannot argue or disagree. Whatever.

I remember reading one of them claiming that we could start dropping food packets to lions so they'd stop eating other animals.

I think they realize that humans are animals, and are holding us up to a higher standard because we comprehend easier, but they'll fix the rest of the animal kingdom soon, just you wait.

Nah, PETA are hypocrites like that.
Humans are animals. With teeth. Large teeth that go KA-BOOM!. And we're prepared to use them. My advice? Don't piss off this animal.
DO YOU HEAR ME YOU ALIEN BASTARDS! WE'LL FIND YOU, WE'LL KILL YOU AND WE'LL EAT YOUR FLESH!

...I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me.

I understand you're point here, humans are of a higher state of reasoning, using logic instead of instinct. the point could be argued either way. humans may be animals by elimination of other categories, but we are separate from other animals in most aspects. however i do notice a lot of human behavior being present in many different species of mammals. there is no right answer.

Maybe if we went back to doing it by hand; none of this fancy-schmancy cutlery business, they'd ease up on us. Of course, if we as a society regress that far, we won't be able to make all those fancy-schmancy artificial materials to wear, and we'll have to go back to furs and leather.

Apparently the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.

Every time I run into one of those rabid PETA people I get the urge to grab them by the shoulders and shake them till the milkshake they're using for a brain oozes out thier ears while I scream "IF I DON'T EAT MEAT I WILL DIE OF ANEMIA YOU STUPID STUCK-UP HOLIER THAN THOU PRICK!"

Besides, most vegetarian food tastes worse than deep-fried Mars bars.

they have gone a bit over board with the ETHICAL treatment idea as different people have different ideas of what is the ethical treatment of animals. I think their idea is good but they are putting animals over people well being as for not realising that people are animals as well, I am sure the know that but there is a widespread idea that people are responsible for themselves and animals cannot do anything to help themselves and require our help. You can notice this when people are more likely to donate to a save the Tiger or Whale or whatever fund but won't give money to the poor. Not saying that helping animals is bad but I think there are more pressing issues.

Humans possess higher reasoning skills that even the next closest animal can never possess. We are actually self aware, which puts us far above and beyond any animal, so much so that we no longer qualify as animals. This is the reason we are the number 1 predator on this planet, despite the fact that we are inferior physically to most every other species on this planet. However, kill or be killed is a law that still applies, and as number 1 we have the right to treat every other species however we wish to, because if those species can't stop us then we deserve to take whatever we want from them. PETA is thus infringing on the rights of Human Beings by trying to stop us, or at least they would be if anything they did had any possibility of success whatsoever. To PETA and all other animal rights groups I say: "Just shut up and pass the burgers already!!!"

Oh Cupric, they know that we're animals, they. just. don't. care.

Seriously though I think it's less a matter of them not realizing people are animals then them trying to make us realize that animals are people.
WOW I haven't seen anything that actually made me laugh out loud (yes, not just chuckling to myself emotionally) on the internet in a while. I congratulate you.

I think they regard us as too powerful for our own good. Also they know that many animals NEED to eat meat to survive (at least without human interference) while people can live very well without meat. Then again I would hate to give up meat.

People are animals? Damn. I thought they were soil. Too many of us are too idiotic to even be animals anymore.

Exactly. I'm not giving up meat, I LIKE meat. Especially bacon and sausages and gammon and peperoni and chicken tika.

Here is the point these PETA idiots seem to be forgetting.

Snow Leopard:
Not tasty
Looks pretty
Average IQ.
Population: <10,000.

Cow:
Very tasty.
Looks stupid.
Is stupid.
Population: over 1,000,000,000

So, you want to save an animal? put it between bread.

*Drops monocle*

My word! Such outrageous demands! "People are mere beasts"? Huff!

Also, while we're at it, let's skimp down on content evolving around Peta. The sooner we'll start ignoring them, the faster they'll go away.

The only problem with that is while we can live without meat, that does not mean we can live healthily without meat. The problem is that, like someone else already said, homo sapiens are omnivores. We are DESIGNED to consume both animal and plant. Our base physiology has evolved to run a specific way, on a wide variety of fuels that need to be in balance in order to operate correctly.

People who live on a vegan diet typically have weaker immune systems and, so far as I've seen, their skin is sort of a sickly grey-ish color. It's really rather creepy. It's because we get more than minerals and vitamins from meat. There's a blend of amino acids, sugars, and fats that humans ingest through meat that are entirely vital to a healthy existence.

All good things in moderation, of course.

Yes, PETA, wearing fur as an accessory is bad. Skinning animals for the sake of looking fancy is bad. We get it. So far as how we slaughter animals, though. Really. I mean. It's quick, by all accounts, and painless- oftentimes, sedatives are involved. Do lions give gazelle that option? Or antelope?

Nope. They chase down, exhaust, overwhelm, and suffocate their prey to death with a nice hard chomp around the throat.
