So in video games where you can either be one of those 3 or a variation of them what do you usually choose?

I will usually play a mage or a rogue. I put my vote in for rogue because I usually go archer but I do love to use magic. There are some times when the magic just feels to great to ignoree, however, my first character is usually an archer.

So what do you prefer.

All of them if the game allows me to. I remember the good times in Skyrim, when I could change classes at a whim due to the magic of the pause screen. That habit may have killed me a couple of times in Dark Souls.

So yeah, I like a mix of three.

Mostly rogue, but it depends on the game's mechanics.

If the stealth/finesse sucks then I'll play warrior. Brute force can be fun too.

I basically never play mage. It always sucks. The magic is never interesting and you usually end up standing around waiting for spells to go off or for cooldowns/mana to regenerate.

Come to think of it, I'd like to see a game that focuses on playing just as a magic user and actually gets it right.

I'm usually the warrior but I tend to prefer the hybrid/DPS warrior class. I like using secondary ranged abilities (such as the Slayer class in Titan Quest) or secondary support spells (such as the Engineer in Torchlight 2).

Mage. If you are a good one, you can do everything the other 2 can do and a lot that they can't.

I like healing classes, like Priest/Shaman, bestest. So pfththth to your poll!

It irks me slightly when there are no healing classes, or healing classes are relegated to some bastard spec of mages. Mages are strictly elemental pew pew IMO, healers deserve their own class.

depends on the game, but rogue most the time, i love duel wielding daggers and it's an absolute OCD when I can't unlock doors/chests, it drives me insane.

if not that, then usually some type of paladin, I love the abilities and overall "shining knight" aspect of it

or a chaotic good cleric/fighter, shouting "I fight for the users!" (yes quote steal, get over it.) when I run into battle.

I know fable TLC is a lite rpg, but I loved primarily using my magic in that game, lots of fun.

When given the opportunity, I prefer to be something of a Battle Mage, walk the path between Warrior and Mage.

For some reason I don't think I've ever focused on being a mage in any game I've ever played- casting spells has never really appealed to me. I prefer hitting enemies with sticks, whether it be stealthily or not.

If it means I'll get a shitload of tools, then Rogue. Jack of all trades, master of none, keeps everyone guessing.

I want to be a tavern wench.

... On a more serious note, I prefer Warrior, but lately all I play is Rogue. Dragon age Origins, however, is the only game where I prefer to play as a Mage.

If a game actually has proper stealth, then I will almost always go with a rogue. If it's just a hack-and-slash rpg, I still tend to play rogue, but depending on the mechanics I might also play a warrior. In extreme cases I'll play a mage, but I generally don't find the magics as enticing as the visceral sensation of sticking a dagger in some poor fool's back.

I feel the opposite. Mages tend to become very overpowered for a number of reasons. In something like D&D, Mages can get self-shield spells to negate their squishiness, summon otherworldly demons to fight for them, gain super speed, jump ridiculously high, insta-kill a number of different monsters (Like Crystalline), fly, turn invisible, grant AOE invulnerability, teleport hundreds of miles, negate magic, gain ridiculous amount of health, create fully real illusions, instantly kill any one target, alter reality on a whim, stop time, dimension hop, and more or less cause the Apocolypse.

Barbarians block stuff with their face (Not as well as he Mage can), can run a bit faster (But a lot slower than the Mage), and can't read.

Legit fairness. This is actually why I tend to make anti-magic characters whenever I can, because I fucking hate Magic users.

OT: Warrior. I like killing monsters by crushing their head between my thighs.

I've never been a big magic user, but occasionally I'll make a warrior type with some kind of magic, whether it's healing or minor destructive magic. It's very rare I make a rogue type, which is quite odd considering my gaming library is dominated by stealthy games...
