I liked it, some other people might have a similar or different opinion on this thread I found on the second page:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.204982-Doctor-Who-Episode-13-The-Big-Bang-Spoilers-TimeLord-5000

In reference to the season though, I've liked it. Never been able to get into doctor who before even though i've tried, so for me something is now better. Also I think Matt Smith is great and I like that he has made the character his own.

Some of the episodes have been a bit off the wall but I've still loved it, the only thing I hate is waiting for the Christmas special.

This recent series with Matt Smith as the Doctor has been absolutely excellent! I think he's by far the best and funniest Doctor of them all.

Some good, some bad, I thought the writing was pretty poor at times but the actors as a whole are of good stock. I was actually sometimes really annoyed, because while the episodes weren't bad, having been introduced to Moffat through the genius of 'Blink' I assumed that when given direct control he would be able to do a little better.

Maybe he's just one of those writers who needs the outside controlling influence upon him.

I think with a little more emphasis on character development as per the last few series (Tenant mainly, but Rose got some great moments during Eccleston's reign), then it could really take off. Moffat needs desperately to lose his obsession with the Star Trek OS method of writing though.

EDIT: Also, in before TimeLord shows up and gets prima on us.

Some of the episodes were a little meh (such as 'the lodger' that seemed to conveniently just rap up in the last 5mins with friendship and transplanting thoughts... and of course the android as mentioned above) but I did appreciate this series being a little darker than Tennant's. Tennant's doctor was great, he just had a feeling of awesomeness all the time whereas this doctor seems more alien, quirky and a little more flawed which I can also appreciate. I do however like Smith's sonic screwdriver and TARDIS theme a lot more than previous ones.

Darker? all i saw in the new series was cliches and sappy endings. "SOB SOB SOB van gogh killed himself", "oh no rory is dead and back to life wah wah wah"
yes a little bluntly put but honestly the new season feels like a soap opera.

One hot actress does not make a show good and Matt smith seems to come off as trying to be Tennant and falls short. The writing for this series however is the real killer, full of inconsitencies and filling the worst holes with the "if you believe hard enough..." crap that belongs in the blandest of disney shows.
It's a shame really because the older shows used to at least try and be intelligent in spite of the guady sets and costumes that it's pitiful budget stretched to.
Now that theres some money behind it they seem to have lost the plot.

This has been the only season of Dr. Who that I've watched, so I can't make a comparison, but I found it very good.

I don't think it's awful, it was watchable, but I feel that the best episodes of this season were on par with the worst episodes of the David Tennant years.

I agree with that. Matt smith has really big shoes to fill by trying to emulate Tennants goofiness, so really he shouldn't be trying to fill them at all. He should be doing something totally different.

I would kind of like to see the next doctor be an eccentric old man again. Somehow, that feels like it would be more of a breath of fresh air than the young doctors at this point.

lol - here in Aus I haven't got that far so at my current place the idea is that rory never existed - so I so I do have to admit I have spoken before knowing everything... sorry about that
and i know it is still like a soap opera, I probably misused 'darker', what I mean is that more things seem to go wrong in this series compared to tennant's series where everything seemed to wrap up nicely (like in his opening episode he says 'by chance I'm still in my regeneration cycle' before regrowing his arm, or Rose getting godly powers to destroy millions of daleks and bring back captain jack - though keep in mind I haven't finished this season yet so please don't judge on what I haven't seen yet, this may be the same)
all in all the sappy endings and clichés pretty much define the 'rebirth' of doctor who so I've just gotten over it

There was nothing wrong with the new series. At all.

Every series has it's poor episodes. But on the whole, it was an excellent first series for Matt Smith

I like it although one bit kept eating at me right its suppose to be a PRISON and it was opened by his screwdriver surely the ultimatly league of alien villans (made up by myself) would interprute a breakout and the fact the ditched all the villans except the dalek.I mean if they wanted keep a villan couldn't they ditch the dalek for once mabye a sultarien could chase them.

The latest series of Doctor Who has been some of the best written of the entire new lot. In many parts thanks to Russel T Davies leaving the writing staff and being succeeded by the brilliant Steven Moffat.
I think it was cast brilliantly, Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill all played their parts with great passion and I don't think anyone else could have done it better.

I'm gay, but even I would do Amy Pond. :3

In my opinion it was ok. I really like Matt Smith (though I was kind of hoping him to be terrible after Tennant.) I like that the story arc is going over a couple of series or so: "the silence is coming".

On the whole though, it just seemed to be lacking any depth. He might as well have been bombing around space and time with a cardboard cut out Amy is that shallow as character; ("I love rory" - "give us a snog" - what? - my friend refers to her as the time slut)

I actually quite liked Rory, but he was seemingly only there to force some emotion by dying.

I think we have to remember that it is not hard and fast Sci-fi and it does pander to the children somewhat.

Saying that, I would love to see more of the "dream master" fella in some capacity, that for me was the stand out episode of the series. There is still nothing that has grabbed me like "Blink" or "Midnight" or "The Waters of Mars" it seems that Moffatt can come up with ace scenarios but Davies was behind the characters. Can't we just have a hybrid of the two?
