Depends. I love seeing exit and entrance wounds, ala RDR and the new Kane and Lynch. I also hate it when bodies fade. Beyond that, as long as the guns are satisfying I don't mind.

I enjoy it enough that I took a break from my beloved Guild Wars to play Requiem online as havok engined the bejesus out of the body parts. Now, I'm glad to see that for particular attacks in GW2 *there will be blood*. (hehe)

If it serves a purpose in the context of a game, then sure, I would most definitely enjoy it.

I don't care about the graphics or stuff as long as the game play is good and fun, story plays a minor role too and can either effect me positively or negatively. Gore and blood is the same to me.

Allow me to bullet what'll happen over GW2's bloodier content.

o Waves of buttock-pained complaints from German censors.
o A demand that the wider European version be differentiated from the German version, which won't happen.
o Simply not releasing in Germany would be ideal, but not likely to be Anet's solution.
o Umm'ing and ahh'ing by Anet as to how to get classified by German censors.
o Eventual removal of the "offensive" content at least for the EU servers, which essentially means that fascist German censors have decided what British, French, Dutch (and so on) consumers are allowed to see.

Germany ought to be cut out of the loop until it cures its censorship-cancer.

PS: I call the censors fascist because it's my understanding that the wider population doesn't like the extremely conservative rule on media. The vocal conservative "moral" minority, which is a plague of so many countries including the US, AUS and the UK, is so virulent in Germany that it imposes its views and values on a much larger band of the community than it itself represents.

Not anymore. Gore in games is really common these days, and few games make it so good that it's a real selling point (Although God of War 3 managed to).

Sometimes blood and gore is just plain funny- like in Wolverstein: Operation Ressurection for instance. Generally though, beyond myself thinking "oooh that looks painful" i generally don't really care if there are blood and guts or not.

must have already stated this but it does not matter that much how much blood and gore there is as long as there is some decent amount according to the genre you are playing. There is nothing more annoying than chopping of a zombies head and not get spluttered with a galon of blood like in L4D2

Put it this way, if I am gonna chainsaw a locust in half, you can bet your ass I wanna see his fucking organs and blood spill everywhere. If I have a Bouncing Betty and that thing blows up, you can bet your ass I wanna see a leg go flying.

And you can bet your ass that when I am playing a game like Limbo, I want the 'gore' to have a bigger impact on me than the above mentioned games.

Gore is good, sometimes it is needed to convey certain feelings, whether that be humor or terror etc.

I don't care. If it's over the top with gore, then, ok, it's different. If it doesn't have any, then I probably won't notice.

I love gore. I can't get enough of the stuff. In video games, in movies, or in my own backyard (jk). However, I do not require it to enjoy a game. A good game is a good game, whether there is gore or not.

But if you took that established good game, then added gore, I would not complain.

It would have helped the immersion in World at War but not when the hit registration was as bad as it was. There was one gun, FG42 I think, which would take off both legs in a single shot to the foot.

On one hand, I enjoy violent games, though generally not for the violence. At the same time, though, I find myself slightly uncomfortable with the idea of enjoying it.

On the other hand, though, I also think that violence, when it appears, should have realistic consequences. I don't like seeing games where people can get severely injured, then just get up, dust themselves off and wander on.

So yeah. I'm pretty sure I can enjoy violent games without them affecting me to any significant extent. I occasionally sit back and wonder exactly how I can enjoy, for instance, getting an achievement in CoH for killing 200 people, but as long as I understand what the results of my in-game actions would be in reality, I don't mind it too much.

I don't mind a bit of blood but in some cases it's a bit too much for me.

In the God of War games for example, the gameplay is super fun but then i have to watch some horrible animation that at worst just makes me feel ill. I'd enjoy it so much more if they toned it down.

If it's unrealistic i usually don't mind, like in Fallout 3.

I quite enjoy the gore. It's never made me feel ill or anything. Games like Resident Evil or Fallout need gore. I mean, one of the most satisfying things in Fallout 3 is blowing someone up. I think to make games more realistic any violent game needs a bit of blood and gore.
A lot of times if I'm playing with a mate we find ourselves laughing at it...in a completely non-twisted way.

Gore and horrific deaths mainly add to my childish enjoyment, or scare factor, in horror games. Usually it gives me a fantastic glee, but it's by no means necessary. I prefer it when it's used properly though.

In a violent game, I want to see blood spurt when I shoot someone and limbs fly off when I take a chainsaw to a mob of zombies, otherwise I'm going to be a sad panda. I like logical gore, but that doesn't mean I only like gory games.

Don't get me wrong i like brains exploding out of a guys head while i gouge his eyes out with a spork and nom on his intestines as much as the next guy but it's not a core gameplay element.

now all they have to do is make a game where blood is a core gameplay mechanic...
