I've played many a game, and glitched in quite a few of them. Some examples would be fallout ( 3 and New Vegas ) and TES ( Oblivion and Skyrim ) and I can say that I'm having a lot of fun.

However, I've read multiple posts and heard from some of my friends that just knowing they could have glitched to raise levels, skills, get currency faster is enough to ruin their experience.

Don't get me wrong though. Glitching in a multiplayer game IS wrong. It's unfair to the other players and gives you an unfair advantage. But quite a few of those posts I mentioned were about SINGLE player games.

Personally, I don't understand why some people would have their experience hindered in any way. They should, if anything, feel better than the people who use glitches just because they were able to restrain themselves from having to do/resort to it.

What are your thoughts?

Well, knowing there is a glitch to advance in a MP game is enough to put me off for sure.
*cough* seat switching in BF2142 *cough* but in SP? unless this glitch is something stupid that levels me from current level to max level in a blink and retrospectively alters all my saves its not a problem.

The glitch is there, you don't have to use it. Of course, maybe some people like your friends know they don't have the will to do that and that they will end up ruining the game for themselves.

Using an analogy - I know I have a habbit of eating an entire pack of anything sweet if I'm given a chance so I make a point of not having the chance.

Anything programmed in is part of the rules of the game. Saying it's not is like saying that taking advantage of your opponent's mistake in chess would ruin the game.

Ill use glitches against those who deserve it, like the infamous ones on BF and cod where you can see peoples feet sticking through walls and you can damage them.

If your going to lie down and camp in a corner barricaded in with gaymores the entire game, then I will get you, dirty tactics or not.

No it's not, programmers cannot think of every possible scenario and it's limits so it's a matter of abusing those holes in the rule set, or in the chess scenario it would be abusing your opponents lapse in chess rules.

OT: It sort of does poke the immersion eyeball, if you haveto knowingly avoid or abuse the system then the whole thing doesn't feel like you are exploring an imaginary world anymore, but rather breaking a program.

If you're playing for the challenge, it can cheapen your experience. Either the game isn't challenging because of the existence of the glitch, or you have to pretend it's not there. That can be hard to do and distract you from the fun.

I don't usually have that problem, however. If I did, I wouldn't get very far in Elder Scrolls. You can usually break the game by taking advantage of features, nevermind the glitches.

in multiplayer? i fucking hate glitches, MOST of the time they are stupid beyond belief and they let the over competitive cheese strategists get even more competitive and annoying than before.

but single player? i couldn't care less, glitch away my friends!

Only if it's on multiplayer . Single player i don't care i don't every use glitches or cheats. As long as when i talk about a game to someone they brag about glitching.

Hell, there are some games that actually expect you to glitch them at some point. I'm looking at you, No More Heroes 2...

On the other hand, the guys at RosterTeeth (the brilliant minds behind Red vs Blue) created an entire series based on glitches called "Fails of the Weak". They focus primarily on Halo: Reach, but accept other games and post them on their youtube channel "gamefails". Funny stuff.
