Do you feel you do better in school when you play video games?
What do you tell your parents or in other words how do you explain you video game playing tendencies?
Do your parents trust your opinion?
Are they correct in thier presumptions?
Do you still do your homework?
I also think That I should some how make this in relation to level of school e.x grade school, High School, College, Grad School (only I don't know how to do it without making multiple threads)

I played many games during my first semester of college and I got a 3.49 out of 4 GPA and I could play for hours, I think it helped my grade by letting me have time to vent and to be by myself after having professors rip me a new one all day.

I don't do any worse in school, but my homework suffers a bit.
On the plus, when motivated, I can do just about anything.

I suffer a bit because I don't study ahead of time and end up studying at the last minute which means I often don't study as well or cover everything I need to know.

I try to use them to vent. And then I realize that venting is far more fun than work, so I over-vent and don't get my work done.

Which leads to more stress, so I feel like venting more.

Yeah, I should probably hide the console during semester.

First semester is always easy. It only gets harder from your 2nd/3rd semester. So to be honest, try to reduce the time you dedicate to gaming, specially in college. But it all depends on the type of person you are, I do have a few acquaintances whose grades were affected in a not so pleasant way because of gaming, but then again, I have friends who can waste their free time gearing up in WoW, and still completing their homework and assignments on time.

I know, it almost makes me wish I could play WOW and then do homework on time, but its one or the other

I found my English 102 papers were the worst at killing my free time

I procrastinate. A lot. And when I've been in situations where I've had work to do and not had any games around, I will still manage to waste the entire day without doing anything. Its just how I am.

So no, videogames do not make me do worse in my studies. But they also don't make me do better.

I think that the number of hours played definitely we this as does dedication to study. I had a roommate in grad school who spent way too much time playing. He quickly flunked. As a study break or stress relief though, they're almost as good as a good book.

I play TF2 in my down time with my roommate.
It doesn't get in the way of homework our anything, the rest of my college life does though

I think you need to define what you mean by "play video games." Do you mean be your average greasy MMORPGer and play for 8 hours a day, or play a half-hour of some game each night?

I can't help but think that doing things like studying and listening in class has a lot more to do with your grades.

There are too many variables to say for sure, but I very much doubt that playing video games has hurt my grades at school. If I was really procrastinating, I'd find something else to do - and I don't procrastinate that much with video games anyway...

As for my parents, they gave up a whiel ago.

If anything, they help me study because they (among other things) provide me with a release and a good break from work.

I mean the average amount of time you spend on video games, it depends on what YOU yourself play
