Poll: Drinking and gaming

For those of you who drink out there, how many do it while playing a game? I'll admit I often do and after the first couple the game becomes "O wow this is awesome!" and then after the next couple my performance is seriously affected. But I still like to do it; do you?

I don't generally drink much. If I only have one or two beers I find I feel pretty tired within a couple hours. So it's all or nothing. Only a few times have I drank and gamed, and usually with friends (like a mario drinking party).

On the other hand I used to smoke weed and game, which had the same "wow this is great!" followed by extreme suckage. But I quit that and I enjoy games thoroughly if not moreso now. Although I wouldn't mind smoking up for FFXIII... it's impossible to suck at that game.

After a single bottle of good cider, I'm playing like a God.

I rarely have any more than that. I save it for the next night.

I adhere to the old reliable "never drink alone" rule, so because I usually game alone (online games count as 'alone' too), I almost never drink&game.

Haven't really drank and played video games yet, I'm sure since I'm moving into my own apt tomorrow that I'll soon track down so alcohol and down it while I play online until I'm shooting and throwing grenades at a rock because it looked at me funny, then I'll probably pass out and leave my TV on till I wake up with a headache and have prestiged 2 times over the course of about 5 hrs ^^;;;

Hardly ever. I really want to enjoy my games with an unclouded mind and sharp reaction time. Replaying through old games is a different story. Rock Band can be fun while drunk and Warioware: Smooth Moves makes for a hilarious drinking game.

I find alcohol just clouds my mind a bit too much for any sort of concentrated activity requiring any sort of quick thought.

However, dope seems to work quite well. Not so much in online games though.

I usually game clean though.

Thast for sure about online games. I suck so bad when I play online intoxicated from whatever substance. Last night in Halo I couldnt even get a kill with a hammer. Swing and a miss.

Then I went back to RE5 where my character walks and aims slower than me after a robo. Not that I would ever do that.

We have a drinking game based on Guitar Hero on Expert for the 360. Needless to say we get worse as we get hammered.

When I'm playing a multiplayer game with the other players in the room drinking with me as well. Hanging out with a group of friends I hadn't seen in 6 years we drank copious amounts of alcohol and thought it would be a good idea to play Dawn of War... It adds a whole new strategy element to the game. "Hey, nows our chance! Lets rush his base while he's in the bathroom puking."
"I think he's passed out in his chair, lets see if a Bloodthirster wakes him up!"

I never drink anyway. So I guess my answer to the main question is fairly obvious.

Some games are good to drink with, mostly ones like Rock Band or tripping ones. Any game where you are not expected to actually use your brain too much or look silly trying.

Online games like MW2 are very frustrating drunk, more so then normal. For me at least.

We have too many 'Video games r srs bzness' types to play just like that. So we make them play and if they don't get over a 95 on expert, they have to take a shot. If they do, everyone else does. After a few setlists, we forget the drinking game and actually have fun.
